We recently connected with Brandy Walker and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brandy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
I have been in the credit and financial business for almost 6 years. I can honestly say you never stop having ideas that you can execute. Being a business owner is like your brain having multiple computer tabs open at any given point in time. The latest idea I have had was of a mutual desire to assist people with home ownership. After a meeting of the minds, with Alexander Beadle of Liberty Bank in Atlanta, GA, he agreed to offer to provide all 50 states with a chance at pre-approval with 100% financing. My company iCredit Solutions brings people the opportunity to get ready for closing by improving their credit scores while they lease to purchase their new home. I normally execute ideas pretty fast, by the end of the day, I had a whole automated system set up and some help from our assistant. I saw the idea, I got on Tiktok and just talked about our home buying program. When I woke up the next day we had 10-15 home buyers consultations a day for the first week! Sometimes when you are clear about your purpose and what you are trying to accomplish the execution is very clear.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The last time I was featured in Voyage I was in Atlanta Georgia. I have since married and relocated my business and family to Dallas, Texas. I began entrepreneurship and iCredit Solutions in 2017 by working on my own credit. I begin to self-educate and go through certifications and courses that I could find on credit and consumer laws. There is so much out there that protects us financially and I wanted to make everyone aware that bad credit does not have to be the end of your life. I wanted to build a firm where we were able to help people with all things financial. From credit restoration, we also added tax preparation, tradelines, business credit tradelines, and personal/business funding to our services. I think what sets us apart from most credit repair companies is that you don’t have to go looking for anything, everything you could ever be looking for that is financially related, we can provide. We are innovative in keeping ahead on new things to introduce to the world. Acquiring the brand tradelinecentral.com and servicing business credit tradelines is probably the biggest accomplishment for us because it is a game changer for business owners to cut down their time on building business credit by more than half.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for building my clientele has always been word of mouth. In these last 2 years, I have heavily also relied on social media marketing, especially TikTok. If you have the proper lead system set up for what you are trying to promote you can’t lose. People like authenticity, they like to be talked to. It lets people know that you are well versed in your business and services. I know when to conduct business and I know when to let my hair down and laugh a bit. It’s okay to add a little fun to your social media, showing that you are a human that also has other human interests outside of business goes a long way.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I consider myself a multipreneuer. Sometimes I venture off into other business ideas. Sometimes those ideas went well, but sometimes those ideas didn’t work out the best for me. They weren’t bad ideas, but sometimes just the wrong timing and alignment. I would beat myself up over it too about failing every time I did fail at a business venture that I wanted to try. What I did have to unlearn is that failure is not bad. Failure is almost necessary to go through. How will I know what not to do differently the next time? How will I know what to improve on when I give it a go again? I never quit anything I start. It is okay to fail. Regroup, get yourself together, and go at it again.
