We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Latosha Bailey-McCutcheon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Latosha , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I wish that I had the courage to start my business sooner. I’ve always had love for fashion and modeling since I was a teenager I just never did anything with that passion.
In the year 2020 is when I decided to move forward with my passion. I am also a hairstylist, and at that time the world was going through a pandemic in which I could not work. I wanted to find something that I would enjoy doing the work while bringing in a source of income.
If I had more courage back then as I have today, I would be much more successful with my boutique. I don’t regret where I am currently in life. Just wished I had more faith in myself back then.

Latosha , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Latosha, the owner of Tosh`E Boutique, LLC. I am a wife and a mother of 3. I also own a hair salon.
I have always had a passion for fashion and to make sure that I was my own individual when it came to it. My thought is, fashion comes in all shapes and sizes and everyone can be unique when it comes to it.
The world makes it as, if you are over a certain size you are not considered beautiful. I beg to differ, and that is where my brand comes in to make a difference.
My goal is for mother’s, wives and career women to feel beautiful and confident inside out with the styles I plan to bring to my website. Whether it is chic, business casual or sexy.
Fashion should not have a limit regardless of shape or size. It is all about the confidence. So what that being said, enjoy this journey with me. I will make my brand known for representing the working women, loving wives and caring mother’s.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
My boutique was funded by my own personal savings. I did not get a loan or borrowed from anyone to start my business. If I knew back then, what I know now, I would have definitely did it a bit different. I would have build business credit and use that to purchase items needed for my boutique instead of my own personal money.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
For any business idea you may have, start off first doing your own research and also using YouTube. It is so much free information out there that you do not have to necessarily pay anyone to learn. Take your time and do the research first.
