We recently connected with Julio Jimenez and have shared our conversation below.
Julio, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be successful now a days it requires momentum. The moment you take a too long of a break and you lose that momentum it almost feels like starting over.
Julio, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Julio Jimenez, I am a freelance Videographer and Photographer. I have always enjoyed making videos with friends when I was younger and even took Video Production for 3 years in high school. After graduation I did lose sight in this field because I did not believe I could succeed without having a college degree. Once I saw one of my best friends doing this full time, I was inspired and decided to jump back in and have my own business. I have done fitness videos, corporate events, music festivals, weddings and just about all family events. I currently do more wedding work than anything else. I would say weddings are what I strive to improve on the most. Every single wedding, although they all follow the same outline each love story is unique. I still have a lot of growth and I have learned to love the process of improving through each wedding. It is really exciting to me to not only capture that special moment so that you can relive it but turn it into a film that will tell the love story. I am most proud of being a husband and a father. Majority of my free time is spent with my family. I am currently in the process of “rebuilding” my name. I took time off to spend it with my baby girl but it did cause me to lose a good amount of momentum my business had going. I do not regret it but it did make me realize how important it is to stay consistent and have that momentum going.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I really did not start with a huge capital. I had some money saved from working my 9-5 and bought a starter camera. I watched several video on YouTube to see what the best budget options were. Once I started learning with that camera I started doing work for friends at a discounted rate and would just reinvest into myself to get better equipment.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I believe right now were I am is testing my resilience. I was so busy last year and then looking at this years difference was really a wake up call. It is not my time to give up because I am not as busy as I once was but my time to reevaluate, learn from my mistakes and come back stronger.
