We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sherolynn Eppinger. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sherolynn below.
Hi Sherolynn , thanks for joining us today. How’s you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
I J.U.M.P and created it!
I had been working at my corporate job for 7 years. The last 2 years of being there I could see there were a lot of changes happening and I was beyond ready to leave this job. Being a former collegiate athlete, health and fitness was always important to me and at this time I was focusing on getting my body back in shape after having my son. Also, at that time I was praise dancing all over the state of Ohio and I understood how great of a workout it was. So with the encouragement of
friends and family, I decided to become a Zumba dance instructor. One day while looking up classes to become certified, God spoke to me and said to create my own class. While at my desk I begin to write down words to decribe how I wanted the class to be and feel like. Words like exciting, fun, joyful etc. I finally came up with Joyful Uplifting Movements of Praise or simply J.U.M.P. After the name was created while still working at my soon to be closing department, I create 20 dance routines, to fun, inspiritional, clean music. I would search songs while editing spread sheets and put together 8 counts will sending emails. Once I felt I had something people would enjoy, I tested my routines on friends and family. After receiving their approval, I begin teaching classes at my church June 2016. Shortly after I received notice that I was offically in the group that would be laid-off at the end of the year. December 31, 2017 was my official last day at a job that I had for almost seven years. My comfort zone and safety net was going away. By the time the end of the year came, J.U.M.P was rolling and I was free to expand my class that I created into multiple veunes such as conferences, health fairs, senior care facilities, day cares and now my own fitness facility, that I have been operatoring for 3 years. I often look back and thank God that I listened as I was being prepared for where my life was going.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Hi I’m Sheroynn Eppinger from Warrensville Heights, Ohio (Go Tigers) I am the 6 child of Timothy and Katie Eppinger. I got into the health and wellness industry from being a former athlete. I was always very active and growing up I played mulitple sports along with my siblings. Volleyball, track, cheerleading, gymnatics and wrestling. I went to college on a wrestling scholarship at the University of the Cumberlands and in 2009 graduate with a degree in Health, Exercise and Sport Science. I wanted to help my community learn how to live healthier lives by developing more active lifestyles. After creating my dance fitness class in 2016, I obtain my own fitness center 1000lbslighter fitness.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back I would 100% choose this same profession. I love the community. Teaching them the benefits of having an advantage active lifestyle. is most rewarding to me. My highlights are when a person accomplishes a goal that once seem they could never do, and seeing how excited they are to tell me about a good doctor’s report of ” whatever you’re doing keep it up”.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Me being me!
My attitude and personality is something that draws people in. I honesty love what I do and who I do it for, so the atmosphere is fun and inviting. I understand the importance of meeting people where they are, gaining a trust and then being able to teach them to grow. The people that come to my facility end up being like family and the facility is an environment that people look forward to coming to. This has allowed me to be successful in my field.
