We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Crystal Taylor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Crystal below.
Alright, Crystal thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My story. Those two words create a loaded sentence! Goals are a big part of my life. I started setting them when I became sick with ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) that caused me to lose my kidneys. I knew life didn’t end there, but just began. I set a goal to enroll in college and complete it. And I did. I enrolled at Texas State University (formerly known as SWT) and studied at night while on dialysis. I received a kidney 5 years later and graduated in 2002. I entered the education system and worked on yearly goals in the classroom. I am a life long learner and decided to give real estate a try. I then set that goal and became an agent in 2019. In real estate, goals are a big part of being successful. I set those goals as a priority for my business. I believe they keep me going. They keep me motivated and healthy. .
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I entered the real estate world in 2019 after 15 years in the classroom. I never knew how many similarities there are in both professions. In the real estate business it is important to have the right tools to problem solve for clients. Every client has a different goal and it is important to understand what they need. I provide a service and am a resource for each client. For instance, I had a client who needed to sell their home and buy a new home. At the time, real estate was at an all time high, and every builder had a list longer than a Texas highway! I contacted the builder daily which allowed my clients to move up the list faster than those who weren’t as proactive. Developing relationships with the builder, lender, clients, and title reps is quality!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
At the beginning of my 14th year in education, I knew I wanted a change in career paths. I adored my students and their parents. I’ve learned so much in the education system, but it was changing rapidly. I decided to try real estate. When I became a realtor in 2019, I stayed in the classroom one more year while building my database and organizing all of my systems and tools. That change was a scary change, but I’m so glad I took that leap! Real estate has been an amazing part of my life! I really enjoy providing the service to help others.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy is keeping in touch. I love to do surprise gifts or handwritten notes. I give gratitude for allowing me to support clients in the biggest transactions of their life. Most of my clients come from people I know or who have referred me. Each year it grows and it continues to amaze me.
