Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristin Watkins . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kristin, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Redeeming Radiance is nestled in a historic building in the beautiful Mid Town Kansas City area. When you walk in the doors of Redeeming Radiance for a bit of TLC, we desire to transform those hard moments that often show up on your skin and REDEEM them to your natural RADIANT beauty that shines so brightly in all your big moments of hope. RR is not just a skincare destination, but a place of community, hope, passion, and love. At RR you do not need to take out a loan for healthy skin + lasting results. Rhonda Allison is the professional line used at the studio. RA products are natural plant + fruit + flower + nut derived. This beautiful line is intentionally priced, so you can maintain your skins health at home. Whether you are looking to just “treat yourself” without breaking the bank or to really transforming the skin, look no further!
This space is intended to welcome everyone with open arms and have you leaving feeling recharged + refreshed. A non traditional take on skincare, where we desire to make a point for everyone to have healthy skin, in a timely manner. A place to gather, relax, and leave feeling better, in every sense, than when you came in.
Kristin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi Friends! Kristin Watkins, esthetician and skin care specialist here! I am the founder of RR Skin Studio. I have always had a real passion for helping people and making everyone feel comfortable and appreciated. You will love coming to my studio, as I try to create an experience for all my clients that will leave you feeling healthy, confident and beautiful. Redeeming Radiance was created by my passion for skincare and fire to succeed, no matter what life throw’s at me. I have been serving the Kansas City area for over 5 years and am professionally licensed in both Kansas and Missouri. I have created this space to be a place that will not only make a difference in your skin, but will leave you feeling like you have a new friend as well as the surrounding community!
Redeeming Radiance is not your typical spa with a single dark room and waterfall music and all that. Here, you will find INTENT behind every single thing down to the light fixtures and blanket that drapes you while your getting your service. You walk into an open 1,000 sq ft space, decorated like a cozy living room with an esthetic bed tucked in the back, where ya kick off your shoes and cozy in. Treatments are 35 minutes long and intended to pinpoint your skins every need. I always start with a consultation to really get to you know you + your skin + your biggest concerns. Then, I customize a treatment to fit your skins every need, at a price that will not break the bank. ($65.00). I truly believe everyone deserves to feel like they can have healthy skin without spending hundreds of dollars and several hours at a spa. I created this space to welcome anyone and everyone with open arms, a non intimidating + non traditional take on skincare.
Redeeming Radiance is an inviting space intended to come alone, come with friends, host a facial party, or even a pop up. This space is not just a skincare destination, but a place of community.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I have been an esthetician for over 6 years. I have been a business owner for 1 year and 5 months. I worked my booty off for another company for 5 years, where I became lead esthetician and manager for not just one, but both shops. It is there where I really found my passion for not just skin, but for helping others feel confident and beautiful. It is there where I worked 6 days a week, 10+ hours a day, building my reputation and my client book. I took work home to really know the ingredients, the products, the acids, the why’s behind every ingredient and every protocol. I loved what I did and I think it shined so bright to anyone who sat in my chair. Over 5 years I had built a very loyal clientele, so much so that 99% of those amazing humans followed me to my newest adventure on opening my own studio! Not only did those clients follow me, but they hyped me so hard and convinced me even harder that I COULD DO IT, that I COULD open my own place and be so successful, and they were right. I think my reputation was built by my fire and desire to succeed and be the best at what I do. I TRULY care about your skin and won’t just sell you something to sell you something, I have never and will never be that way… it is refreshing in this field and I think a lot of people truly appreciate that.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Most of my regular clients re book their next appointment (prebook) before they leave the studio. The clients who don’t re book, but tend to book online or text to book, I like to send out personal texts to each of the clients who haven’t been in in a while. I think it is important to personalize everyone’s experience not just in the studio, but outside as well. Facials are best once a month, so I like to check in with those who it has been around that since their last service. I also keep in touch with clients via. social media. I engage, daily, with my followers, some have been in the studio once or twice, some come monthly and are my biggest fans, others are people who find me on insta or word of mouth and follow the studio, but have not been in. I think it is important to keep engaging and posting and being the real me when engaging with any kind of client, potential clients included. My brand is me, essentially. I am the book keeper, the social media manager, the service provider, the business owner + CEO. My clients love what I do, yes, but I truly believe they love me, as a person, as a brand, as an entrepreneur. I think I have fostered this following + brand by just being me, so it really is not hard to keep in touch + keep people coming in + coming back.
