We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rayvon Griffin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rayvon below.
Alright, Rayvon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
“A successful woman is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at her.” I have lived by this quote and as I look back through my 8 years in business 3 of which being full-time I can only be so grateful at how far I have come. Though my services have evolved over the years my mission has remained the same “Rayvon Creates art from the heart”. To be able to provide so many positive images of people of color celebrating incredible milestones, being a safe haven for women/children/and their families is something that I don’t take for granted. I am becoming a pillar in my community and to know I have so much more to do and give only drives me to push forward.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Rayvon Creates blossomed from my senior branding project while I was in college. Having finished the graphic design program a year prior to my business program I used my photography and graphic design skills to make money on the side. Balancing school, running a business, and having a social/family life really taught me the art of time-management and self discipline. I have had many successes and failures along the way but it has made me a better business owner because of it.
When Covid hit I decided to no longer offer graphic design services and added on makeup artistry with my photography packages . After setting up our most popular makeup & photo bundle packages our clients were sold on the convenience of having both services done in the same location with the peace of mind knowing they were working with a timely and professional business.
Our vibrant photos and creative set designs help us stand out. I continue to look back on my previous years and I can see how much I have grown as a creative. I take on each project as an opportunity to continue to progress and expand my reach.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The year leading up to me taking the leap of faith in going full time was one of the worst years of my life. The most challenging being October 2018. In a span of 3 weeks all of the following happened…. My boyfriend (now Fiancé) and I ended our eight year relationship, my dad had a second heart surgery, a close loved one passed away, and I was sexually assaulted at work by a former high school teacher. (I know, crazy right?). After all of that I felt lost and broken and I had no idea of how to put the pieces back together. But I am blessed with a wonderful support system of family and friends who have been there for me through my entire journey of healing and I am so thankful for each and everyone of them. Now almost four years later I am still healing with the help of therapy and have been able to accomplish so much. Since being full-time I have been able to maintain the coveted 6-figure revenue mark as well as be featured in articles and broadcasts nation wide. I am so proud of me and it’s through my resilience that I have been able to make it this far,

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As a creative I am often humbled at how many people recognize me and my work; especially by those who love and appreciate what I do. I am often paralyzed with imposters syndrome and overly critique myself on what could have been better executed instead of appreciating and celebrating my progress. Being apart of people’s happiest moments is a big motivator but also understanding how precious life is when my works become memorials for loved ones. It always comes full circle and keeps me grounded. My work is bigger than me and will hopefully live on long after I am gone.
