We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Starr Jackson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Starr below.
Starr, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
During the pandemic I was someone who was doing a lot from cooking different meals, working out, and keeping my businesses in the limelight. After i graduated college in 2019 I knew the “real world” things were coming. I would be working full time and wouldn’t have many things to be involved in like I did on campus.
This risk that I took was always in the back of my mind, but I was afraid and nervous to take it. I wanted to do more with my college organization I started and making it into a nonprofit was the route I wanted to take.
I knew that it was going to be so much and it still is. But, i didn’t want years and years keeping passing and I didn’t follow my dreams. It was a risk because I didn’t know what to expect, if people were going to support, or how would we grow during a pandemic.
I’m glad i took that risk because now my nonprofit Nothing But The Arts Incorporated is know nationally and internationally.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always been apart of the arts and media from: dancing, chorus, playing the violin, having my own podcast and more. I enjoyed helping others and giving back to communities as well. These two things that I was passionate about brought me to create Nothing But The Arts Incorporated (NBTA) on my college campus.
During the pandemic I wanted to do more with NBTA and decided to create it as a nonprofit and an incorporation. NBTA seeks to provide a safe space for all creatives to connect and learn. We want to ensure that the arts and media is kept alive in communities and schools.
We offer various different workshops for every creative field, events, internships, volunteer service. live interviews and more. We are currently working on our first digital magazine. This organization strives on allowing creatives to be open and have a platform for their talents and skills.
NBTA is truly like a family and i think that’s what really sets up apart. We are truly here for one another! I am so proud of the amount of people we have reach in the past few years and during the pandemic.
I want our future members to know that we are here for you and we look forward to seeing your talent and skill and being apart of NBTA.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
NBTA really built our social presence from being informative and allowing others to have a platform to showcase their talent and skills. We are entertaining as well!!
A big shout out to all of my interns who have also helped us with our growth.
Advice i would give to others trying to build their social presence is to know who you are trying to reach and why. What problem are you trying to solve or what is your overall goal?

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think our core values and our events. People see that we are family oriented, humble, and organized. We value creativity and that can come in any form. People saw the beginning from being on campus to now being seen here in the states and internationally.
Our events are informative and entertaining. People are always wondering what creative event will we do next.
