We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Timothy Moore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Timothy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I blamed my father’s absence from life as child as the reason for my failures as an adult. I always felt that if he were around then I would not have had as many failures as I did. I had a lot of suppressed and unexpressed anger towards him for most of my life. So on the day of his funeral I was surprised to find myself crying profusely and really wondering why I was hurting for a man who was for the most part of my life missing in action. As I poured out my tears and trying to understand my emotions I began to understand the tears were because I had no one to blame any more. It was evident that no matter if he was present or absent I had to be the one to determine my destiny. That was my epiphany and so I decided to release him from the blame and take ownership of my path. I knew I had to decide what I was going to spend the rest of my life pursuing and becoming. After some thought I decided to write down a vision for the future I intended. That vision immediately changed the trajectory of my life in such a tremendous and positive manner that I had to share the solution with others. I created VisionWriters USA to be the global leader in the creation of vision statements that inspire and facilitate community growth and economic development. I began to see the a lack of clear intention and vision for the future was keeping people stuck and stagnant and make them jump from thing to thing looking for something with enough meaning to cause them to have unwavering commitment. If a person had a clear enough vision they could focus and be committed to the end.

Timothy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Without a vision people perish and lose restraint. In other words when a person does not have a clear vision for the future they began to slowly breakdown from the inside for lack of real inspiration to grow. In addition they lose discipline which causes them to jump from shiny object to shiny object and never really experiencing success. The constant quitting and changing and moving on erodes an individual and disempowers them. Over time a feeling of failure and frustration will begin to take over and rob a person of their drive and ambition. This is the perishing aspect of a “lack of vision”. VisionWriters takes a deep dive into a business owner to uncover their “why” using the R.A.P.I.D. framework and then write a vision that can be used to build unwavering commitment. This unwavering commitment. will guarantee success as individuals also create alignment and congruency with their vision. Through various program such as Alignment Academy, Master and Align 4 Week Accelerator, and Acquiring Vision 1:1 Coaching sessions a budding entrepreneur or seasoned entrepreneur can start scaling their business forward and experience personal and professional success. As the “Clarity Doctor” I help others acquire, master, launch, and align with their vision, I also use story development and align it with their vision to help them attract the right tribe of supporters, fans, collaborators, and clients

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Over the years I have experienced job loss and significant decrease in income. As this continued to happen over my carrier I realized I had to make some changes and be more prepared for the future if I wanted to maintain my life style. I realized that I needed to shift my mindset around money. I began a relentless campaign to understand money and how it works in our world. This was a shift and pivot as I had to find additional ways to generate cash flow besides my 9-5. The journey is ongoing but my trajectory has definitely changed and the results are starting to appear.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The majority of my real lessons come from money trauma so unlearning the money lessons and teaches of my child have been continuous. One of the things I had to unlearn was “saving” money vs. investing money and purchasing assets and not liabilities as well as not being so much of a consumer. Growing up it was spend, spend, spend without any understanding of how to get money to work for you. It was only save and spend.
