We were lucky to catch up with LaShanna Moore recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi LaShanna, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
I chuckled at this question. Parents are definitely not perfect; my dad use to always say that kids didn’t come with a blueprint. I can only imagine. However, there is quite a bit that my parents did right. They were opposite personalities and provided us with a great blend of when to speak up and when to keep silent. They taught me leadership but also the importance of demonstrating follow-ship and teamwork. My mother taught me how to communicate and my father challenged my vocabulary. I learned how to build a relationship with God and with people from these two. The impact they have had on the little girl me to the grown woman has been endless. I still reflect, ponder and adhere to much of what they taught me. For that I am eternally grateful.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is LaShanna Moore. I am a woman who is passionate about life, causes and people. This extends in my work as a holistic health practitioner and speaker. I dedicate my work to the health of women and community. My academic accomplishment includes herbalism, nutrition, Endocannabinoid education and performing arts.
I’ve enjoyed bringing my work into very creative spaces such as the Nickelodeon network and as a new filmmaker. I have a documentary called Black Boddess that is committed to highlighting the medical inequity of women of color with an emphasis on black women.
I provide solutions to women who struggle with gut, hormonal, mental and reproductive issues.
I credit my success to God, a firm foundation and my love for research.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Being committed to the hard work, resilience and focus that is required.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I would choose this profession again because I believe in it and I see the need for what I bring to the field.
