We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brittany Raymond a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, thanks for joining us today. Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?

I have always loved the beauty industry. Whether it was hair, nails, or makeup, it has always intrigued me. So when I was 20 I decided to pursue my passion! I went into cosmetology school and graduated in December of 2020. It is not all rainbows and butterflies though. After graduation I moved into a different town and started taking clients. It was… hard. School doesn’t necessarily paint life for after school to be easy, but it doesn’t prepare you for the real world. Not even a year after graduating I decided to step away from the chair and re-center myself and think about why I chose this industry. I came to the conclusion that it’s because I love to help people feel beautiful. That’s why I started doing makeup primarily and focused on practicing my craft. I would sit down for hours at a time curating ideas and sketching them out. I find sketching out the idea helps save me time in the long run haha. After finalizing my idea I then execute it and post photos and videos when they are complete. I hope to in the future grow a following so I can make makeup my full time career! It takes patience and a lot practice (and money lol), but I’m so excited to see where the future takes me!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am 22 with a HUGE love for anything art! My mom is also an artist so I definitely got all my skill from her haha. When I was 18 I started playing with makeup and decided to just go for it. I posted my first makeup look and to my surprise people really liked it! I was super excited so I continued to create looks thus explaining where I’m at right now.

As of right now I only provide makeup services and eyebrow wax services. Although I love hair, makeup is where my strong suit is and it’s where I feel the most at home. I am a Jack of all trades when it comes to makeup! if you need bridal style, I got you. If you need colorful, I got you. If you want to play with special effects, I got you! I love making all my clients feel incredible regardless of what makeup style they come in for! :)

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

I have a dream to grow a platform in the beauty community. Although the community is already large, I hope to one day leave my footprint! That is ultimately what’s driving my journey at the moment. I want to spread my ideas for others to enjoy and replicate.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding part for me would have to be making others feel beautiful of course. The way my clients eyes spark up a bit when they see the final product is just a feeling I can’t describe! There is nothing better than knowing your guest leaves feeling incredible!
