We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adriana Vazquez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adriana below.
Adriana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I recently took the risk of leaving my job to pursue my business full time. I had been working at a gas station part time on and off for the last 5 years since I had my kids.I had been working my ass off for the last 3 years and I was busy and booked up months in advance with pastry orders so I felt like I wasn’t going to loose anything by quitting and investing in myself and my own work full time. As a single mom it wasn’t just a difficult decision, it was definitely a scary one. I just got tired of working a job that only sees me as an employee and nothing more. Plus, it would also be a good opportunity to stay at home with my kids. I’m forever putting the things that matter most first and there is no turning back now. My whole life I’ve known I’m meant for greater things and I honestly regret not taking that risk sooner!

Adriana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
First and foremost I am a mom of 2 beautiful kids! My kids and my work own most of my time and so I suck at knowing anything else when it comes down to introducing myself lol.
I am 27 yo and very proud to say I’m Mexican! My dad moved our family to Georgia when I was 7,for a better future and I’ve been here ever since. For that and many reasons I owe my family the world!
Not only was I born the black sheep, i was born an Artist and a Hustler! Since really little I’ve always had a creative mindset and so much ambition! I was naturally good at drawing and as i got older I started to use that talent in other work and different mediums (including baking!) What started as a hobby back in highschool slowly turned into a business when people would reach out to me for custom paintings/ graphics/shoes/ clothes etc.
I currently receive a ton of commissions for pastries/sweets like custom sugar cookies ,cakes, cake pops etc. from people that are local and around the area. I’m hoping to soon expand my products and services on a bigger scale and work with other companies around the nation. (In the works!)
It’s always been in me to make something out of nothing and I’m proud of how far I’ve come! I always put a lot of time and love into everything that I create. That’s my way of spreading my light into the world <3
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Pursuing my dream has never been easy and I haven’t always received the support I needed. I come from a place where it seems like it’s always better to take the easy route..because it’s easier not because it’ll be better for you. I want the very best for me and my business despite the hardships that have and will come along the way. Peoples opinions were a major setback for a long time BUT those opinions don’t pay my bills! I’ve had to let go and ignore people that have played major roles in my life because they’ve never believed in my vision. As I grow in this lifetime I know that aslong as I believe in myself and I put in the work I can manifest my dream. I’ve come so far and I’m not stopping!

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Think and Grow Rich is a go to book that Ive had for years! I’ve always had that entrepreneur mindset but the first time I read it is when it all really clicked! Theres a quote that I will forever live by and will occasionally use as a self reminder when I’m in a funk.
“ You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.” -Napoleon Hill
And I cannot forget about YouTube!!! Haha
YouTube literally has been like the Sensei to my life! You can learn the basics to ANYTHING! Of course when you finally create your project/product you add your own style and creative ideas to it to it to make it your own. But if you ever ask me where I learned how to make something I will most likely say YT!
