We were lucky to catch up with The ToNe Atlanta recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi The ToNe, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Well as of lately/recent, I’ve partnered with 2 of my guys, Street Sweepa & Stovun Fula, to create the dynamic production trio, “Da Vault.” We’ve been working with a lot of Atlanta’s artist, new and old. Other on than that, I’ve released quite a few projects and an actual “Music Album” mini series: “Lock,” “Key,” and releasing October 15th, the finale of the trilogy, “Lock & Key”
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an artist, songwriter, engineer, and a producer. I got in the music industry as a teen with Maurice Starr (New Kids in the Block, New Edition, Bobby Brown, etc) and the Gospel group, 5 Young Men. Since then, I’ve written, produced, opened up, for multiple acts and released 50 plus songs that are AVAILABLE ON ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS‼️
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
What people can do to support artists/businesses/creatives like myself is as simple as a like a purchase a share. A lot of times, we just wanna feel appreciated. We put our hearts (well I) in everything we’re creating as well showing a bit of vulnerability.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One thing I had to unlearn quick was that the music industry isn’t 90% talent. It’s 90% business. The talent is good to have but if you aren’t on top of your business, your talent will be overlooked, or worse become someone else’s talent.
