Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cheryl Stauffer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Cheryl, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
In 2020, we collaborated with 8 local designers who each designed and furnished a room for women who are survivors of trafficking. The goal was to create a sanctuary space that promoted restoration and healing for these women.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I always knew I wanted to own business in the creative field. I worked in SoHo managing a retail boutique—that was my first experience getting my feet wet, and then I came back to Columbus and worked for a design firm for four years. I decided to launch Crimson Design Group in 2003.
Crimson really focuses on creating authentic, elevated spaces. Our designs are largely inspired by our clients’ travels; we want to tell their stories and fondest memories through their space. We love color and culture!
Our business is 50% high-end residential work, and 50% commercial work including multifamily, office spaces, senior living, boutique/retail, and hospitality.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
We are driven by our mission to give back to organizations, specifically Asia’s Hope. We support 25 formerly orphaned children in Thailand by providing them an opportunity and chance at a better life through family-style living, education, medical care, and more, all while remaining immersed in their native culture. We donate 10% of our design fees to various philanthropies.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Crimson started as a residential design firm. By listening to our clients, we were able to further meet their needs by also servicing their businesses. As a result, our business has gradually expanded into commercial work which has been a great success for the company.
