Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christine Curran . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christine, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Being a young female entrepreneur back 15 years ago when I started my business journey, I saw a need for women to support each other in a very male dominated industry. Entertainment is by far one of the most ruthless and cut throat industries out there. I decided to create my own projects, my own ideas and monetize them while trying to empower other women along the way. It started with Ft Liquordale Entertainment which is the parent company to all my projects. Thru this company I booked well over 800 women in a 10 year span for modeling, acting, fashion shows, nightclubs and more. Simultaneously, I was developing my own craft in modeling and acting. I interviewed celebrities for a tv show for a few years which led me to my next project, Dining Divas tv. It has a feel of Drive ins, Diners and Dive but on an upscale level. Six women visit high end restaurants to taste libations and cuisine with different celebrity guests. We are currently filming season 3 which is going national this year!
My partner and I were working on an all female global Oscar style award show called the Influential Model Awards, pre covid. The event consists of 60+ influencers in 26 unique categories such as “Best in Dance, Sports, Crypto” and other influential categories. When covid hit both the IMA’s and Dining Divas were put on hold because we couldn’t have a large gathering for the event and all the restaurants were closed so we couldn’t film. During that time I jumped into what most entertainment artists did, PPE and Crypto. I realized crypto could be a very lucrative addition to the IMA’s as a global currency for the event. Thats where the WEMP Token was born. The Women Empowerment crypto has more utility than just being part of the IMAs. We also fund women entrepreneurs and women supported charities.
Women Empowerment is by far my biggest mission behind all of my projects. I want to help, inspire and educate women so they can be successful in their own right.
Christine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m very grateful for the amazing group of people that have helped me in some way to make my projects a reality. Envisioning an idea and then executing on it is not for the faint of heart. It’s a lot of hard work and dedication. You have to work at it everyday. There are no days off in entrepreneurship until you have hit your goals.
Some of my biggest accomplishments besides booking talent for tons of great projects was becoming the cover girl on catalogs and billboards for LaDiDa Lingerie in 2009. I also have interviewed a plethora of amazing celebrities over the years such as Scott Storch, Donald Trump, Lisa Vanderpump, Jeannie Mai, Brett Michaels, Housewives: Lisa Hochstein, Lea Black & Karent Sierra, reality stars Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth, Disney superstars Peyton List and Austin Mahone, professional athletes “Jon” Jay, Juan Gomes, Jeff Conine, Dennis Rodman, Howard Davis Jr, Bryant McKinnie & Fred Taylor and superstars, Flo Rida, Christina Milian, Jonathan Cheban, Khandi Alexander, Amadou Ly, Coolio, Vanilla Ice, Omar Benson, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Trina and Millionaire Matchmaker, Patti Stanger. I’ve planned and executed many events, the biggest one being the VIP TV model search. We had 50 women compete for one year modeling contracts on tv with Celebrity judges and performances. I took the 12 winners to Bimini to shoot a calendar. I’ve also been able to successfully have my tv show, Dining Divas on tv for 2 seasons now. Recently I went to Dubai to do an interview with Entrepreneur Magazine. I consider this to be my biggest accomplishment to date and am very grateful for the experience.
To accomplish everything I’ve done I’ve had to fail many times. You have to fall down 9 times to get up the 10th. Just keep working everyday on your goals and you can finish anything. Sometimes things take longer than you anticipate. There’s no clear road to success and you will have to go over major bumps and turn around at dead ends sometimes.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When you are working on great things you will always have people who want to screw you up along the way, hold you back or copy you. When I had my Jelloshotgirlz service, which was one of the many things I booked all my models for, I had several people try to copy me and even steal my nightclub accounts. Most of these people were ones who had worked for me at some point. They just took everything they learned from me and tried to use it against me.
When I started my tv show, Dining Divas, I had several people try to take the show from me or copy me exactly to a tee. One person even named their show almost identical to mine with the same exact concept. When you work so hard and people try to steal from you it can be very unmotivating and frustrating. I had to push thru both situations and just realize I was doing something amazing that people wanted to be like me. Sometimes you have to turn it around and look at it from a positive stand point in order to keep pushing forward. You must be resilient.
With our crypto currency, WEMP Token, we have had several set backs and scams happen to us. It’s a very volatile industry. Again you just have get back up wipe yourself off and push forward.
How’d you meet your business partner?
I have multiple partners and one thing I’ve learned when selecting a partner is always look for someone who knows what you don’t know. That’s how they bring value to the project.
My partner for Dining Divas TV is our head of production. By having him as a partner it alleviates all extra expenses for ongoing promotional material we need. He is very creative and brings great ideas and solutions to the tv show. I met Rui Dias over 15 years ago as a model. He was a photographer and we collaborated on a shoot. He has become one of my best friends. We have worked on several big projects together over the years.
My partner for the WEMP Token & The Influential Model Awards is very savvy with numbers. He is also very meticulous with the way he puts things together. It’s great because documents are always very thorough and well laid out. I met Jarrod Knowles about 8 years ago at his Film Festival. We always stayed in touch and eventually I hosted his event one year and won “Best Sizzle” at his event the following year.
