We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Angie Willson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Angie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission the drives your brand?
As a mom, after two kids and 60 extra pounds, I felt very overweight and sluggish. I had low self-esteem, I wore baggy clothing, I didn’t like to see myself naked and felt very embarrassed. Then my next-door neighbor joined a small gym that specialized in helping moms just like me lose weight and gain self-esteem. All of these women also ended up competing in NPC fitness shows. It was so inspiring to see pictures of woman that were as big as me or bigger losing all the weight and it was super exciting to see them walking around with a six pack of abs. That’s all it took. I was hooked and absolutely love it and more importantly I love more than anything helping woman fight through their internal and external battles. They lifted me up back then, now I lift them up and together there is nothing we can not accomplish!

Angie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For 10 years now I specialize on being an online fitness coach. This works very well as now I can help people from all around the world hit new peaks of their fitness goals. Let’s face it, diet is 80% of the battle. That’s my specialty. But more importantly its building a diet around every person’s specific needs. There is no one shoe fits all in this business and that’s where most coaches let you down. They are utilizing plans that were outdated 10 or 20 years ago. We are in an ever-changing climate of fitness and wellness here. If you are not evolving, your clients will suffer with poor to no results and really that’s not acceptable what so ever. If you do not love what you are eating it will never ever work! Period! My clients will send check in’s once or twice a week. At each check in, I personally address their nutrition, diet, cardio, workouts, and you can tell by pictures and input if it’s working. I make tweaks all the time. It’s personal, I want to connect with them and help them in any way I can, they are a true part of the team. If you keep communication open, it’s a great way to keep clients accountable.
I feel it’s the most important thing, to have constant communication with your clients. You can reflect on and discuss their progress, goals, answer any questions, as well as provide support and inspiration. I have tried some of the big online programs just to see what you get and none of them made meal plans around what I liked. None of them were available to discuss anything. You would literally email a general email account and the responses absolutely did not come from a pro! It was such a waste of money!
I have been coaching and mentoring women for over 10 years as I transitioned from an amateur competitor to an IFBB Pro athlete. My primary focus is meal plans, workout routines and one on one support, guidance, and coaching. It is something I really love, and I am very passionate about doing. I am also a fitness expert columnist and have developed a fitness app called https://quadprincess.app/ This app is great as it has plenty of workouts that are easy for anyone to follow whether you’re a beginner or just looking for some extra motivation.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I have been building my social media presence for about 10 years now. I have worked very hard at this for the last 5 years and have successfully built my Instagram to 250,000 plus followers, Facebook to 5000 and TikTok to 36,000. It took a while to grow. I just started posting regularly, using hash tags and contacting other relevant pages for shares. You must be consistent, and the followers will come. I was told I should post at least 1 time on my page a day and multiple stories per day to gain followers. I followed those instructions exactly for the last 5 years. The hard work and determination are paying off. Next goal is 500,000 then on to 1 million.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I think the best source for new clients is personal referrals as well as before and after photos of people I have helped transform. If I have a client that is happy and has been successful with the program, well it’s time to share it on social media. Social media has also been an amazing way for me to showcase myself and my client’s success. It is a great way to attract new business. Social media has given me a great outlet to post motivation, workouts, meal ideas, and fabulous pictures.
