We recently connected with Hester Parks and have shared our conversation below.
Hester, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later?
I started my business as a side-gig while working in accounting and finance in corporate America. My drive and passion for events gave me adrenaline during the late nights and early mornings. When I look back, I wish I had taken the leap sooner so that I could have helped many more people! My college degree in accounting and finance and later, a Masters in Business Administration, gave me a solid financial foundation for running my own small creative business. There have been bumps in the road, but for the most part, everything has worked out and I am smooth sailing into a long and successful future ahead.

Hester, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
After trying to help a college friend plan her wedding, I thought I would become a wedding venue owner. I began taking classes at a local college to immerse myself in all things weddings and events. While broadening my understanding of the industry, I started providing planning services, and I fell in love with the clients and the whole experience. Now, I’m running a luxury planning firm for not just weddings, but upscale social, non-profit and corporate events.
Between my vendor partnerships and strong attention to detail, I exceed expectations when it comes to planning a wide variety of events for my clients. I truly enjoy helping others celebrating all the occasions in life.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
From the start of my career as an event planning business owner, I made sure to give 100% at every opportunity. Between my strong attention to detail, passion for serving others, team spirit mentality, and world class day of coordinators by my side, it was only a matter of time that vendors would take notice. The dedication I’ve put into my work over the years has helped me to network with top of the line vendors, and become a trusted partner in the industry.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I feel blessed that I get to help people in an industry that I love. As a small creative business owner, it is incredibly rewarding to see my projects all the way through from its inception, to a successful finished product. I’m there every step of the way, and while some people may start out as clients, I’m elated when they turn into life long friendships.
