We recently connected with YB Papa and have shared our conversation below.
Hi YB, thanks for joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
When you become a creative, you quit your 9-5 to work 24/7. I’m happier being a creative, because I can show you my emotions in art form. When I was working my 9-5 job I was thinking about my dreams I wasn’t really focused at work.. I was based salary making $75-80k at the age of 24. That’s tough to leave, but I told myself if they offering me those type of numbers then why not invest in me ?. You will tough days you will cry, but you have to keep fighting.. success isn’t made overnight!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
I would say I got into my craft (fashion industry) through the music I listen to. I create my best work from artist who inspire me such as Kanye, Pharrell, Sade.. they used their platform to branch off into the fashion industry. I study them to the T. I’m most known for my hats.. but I plan on coming with more gear for my followers. I create each item from my heart, I just go with my feelings, happy, mad, sad etc. I think the thing that separates me from others is, I’m not a I’m not a monkey see monkey do type of guy, I’m not trendy.. I give the world my feelings in art form.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative?
Seeing the reactions from people’s faces when they first receive your items.. because it’s such a tedious process to give them that.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I just want to free hugs the world one person at a time
