We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ebony Lewis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ebony, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of the most meaningful projects I have ever done was a project with YMCA Park South, Mayor Star Council and Neiman Marcus. I had been working in the Queen City neighborhood on another project and decided to continue the work in the area. I spoke with the Director and we secured a location as the children’s learning center on site. I then was able to secure a sponsorship for the project through Neiman Marcus “The HeART of Neiman’s”.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started painting at a young age I have been doing so for about 16 years now.
I specialize in painting and have recently been completing murals across the city of Dallas these include phase 1 and 2 of the Blues Alley project in Deep Ellum. I have also completed work for Bree Moore studios.
I also manage creative projects for companies looking to change things to become more aesthetically pleasing.
I’m most proud of the growth that I have experienced not only expanding my craft as an artist but also as a business woman.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
The best way to support creatives is buy the art and spread the word. People should really buy Art they enjoy not just give into trends.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing for me is being able to put my thoughts and feelings out into the world boldly and unapologetically. The world needs authenticity and that’s what I provide with my work.
