Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emmanuel Joel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Emmanuel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
I have been fascinated by Elon Musk. His story and journey through life bereft with failures and personal loss, and his unequivocal drive to achieve his goals in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacle is a case study in true resilience and grit.
He has influenced my journey greatly. Like him, I too immigrated to the USA from West Africa for better opportunities. Also like him, I too lost a son.A very dark period for me.
Horace Mann said ” We should be ashamed to die and leave this world without contributing to making it better…” I believe this too is Elon Musk’s mantra that drives him today.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Precise positioning and location have long been sought for autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles. Since the advent of low-priced GNSS technologies (mostly integrated circuits for embedded systems), these technologies have been widely implemented. Even though the accuracy of commercial systems is still only within a couple of meters, these tools have proven useful for most applications. A drawback of this technology is its inability to work properly in indoor environments. In such situations, wheeled robots needing to know their position (on the plane they are moving in) usually implement dead-reckoning strategies based on the information obtained from an inertial navigation system.
However, most such data, e.g., from odometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers and accelerometers, are prone to have noise and generate cumulative errors; furthermore, the position of a fixed initial point always needs to be known.
As the underlying technology for the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) has proven so reliable, researchers have tried to mimic its functionality for indoor uses. However, this requires wireless transceivers that are fast enough to detect very small periods of time, allowing the system to accurately measure distances between the transceivers in the order of meters.
Until recently, the wireless technology capable of measuring the time-of-flight of a signal between two transceivers was bulky and/or expensive, and reproducing the geo-spatial positioning systems in a research or other indoor environment was therefore very difficult.
The Rescunomics teams’ mission is to providing safety solutions with emphasis on experiential learning. Our approach to solving the problem of accurately tracking first responders and emergency personnel in live and chaotic environments is hinged on a common first responder slogan: “LOCATION! LOCATION!! LOCATION!!!” thus simplifying this important denominator that determines if emergency responders go home alive or not. Our solution is built on the bedrock of scene safety as a fundamental for responder safety. For ease of deployment, our solution provides a restricted database secured with blockchain technology that multiple agencies can view on the fire truck or police squad car MDC or Mobile Display unit en route to the scene showing the internal layouts of a building, school or public facility they are responding to in real-time just by typing in the address. For robustness, interoperability & cost feasibility, Hērōs ™ will be built to easily integrate into existing MDC systems on fire trucks and police squad cars from different agencies without acquiring new hardware. For practicality & user-friendliness, our Hērōs ™ beacons are fire-retardant, blunt trauma resistant and water-proof and can be deployed by firefighters entering a building during a primary search for victims or an offensive attack.
Rescunomics has built a system-wide digital platform dedicated to first responders and Active Shooter deterrence.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
from my experiences over the years, I have learnt that the easiest thing to do is to let go of the past but the hardest thing to do is believe that you can indeed let go. Past faults, failures, disappointments, negative feedback and pitfalls. I believe being able to do this is the secret of a fulfilling life and work success..

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
