We were lucky to catch up with Gaetano DiNardi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gaetano, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Looking back at the decisions you made early in your career, particularly whether to join a firm or start your own, do you feel you made the right choice for that stage of your career?
I began my professional career as a lost college graduate with a dream of becoming a platinum superstar music producer.
I wanted to produce records for the biggest artists in the world. After spending 5 years as a music producer & songwriter in NYC, I experienced some success – I was able to work with major artists like Fat Joe & Shaggy.
I decided to start blogging about my perilous journey as a music producer, and getting ghosted by Atlantic Records – https://officialgaetano.com/music-industry/career-advice/i-got-a-major-label-meeting-and-nothing-happened/
From there, I fell ass backwards into SEO and the rest was history. I ended up getting my first “real job” at an SEO company called iPullRank in 2013.
Grinding in the music industry was brutal, but it helped me transition into digital marketing.
I eventually realized that musicians and companies have similar problems.
– Cutting through the noise.
– Building a differentiated brand.
– Developing an engaged audience.
– Battling against stronger competitors.
– Converting leads into paying customers.
– Transforming new customers into lifelong fans.
I faced these challenges as a music producer trying to grow my own brand.
And without knowing it, I became a self- taught digital marketer.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I got started by working at an SEO agency. From there, I transitioned into tech where I led growth marketing teams at fast growing companies.
I knew I eventually wanted to be an independent marketing consultant, but I acknowledged the value of eating mud in exchange for learning on someone else’s dime.
I worked extremely hard to become a top performer in my field.
I posted consistently on LinkedIn for 5 years in a row.
After years of paying my dues, I’m now completely on my own and life is amazing 😎
However, if I pursued the path of independence without first laying a foundation, I’d be struggling.
#QuietQuitting was never an option for me.
Today, I am a growth advisor and fractional VP for B2B tech companies.
Here is a summary of what I do:
1) Content SEO – I help companies focus on growing their organic traffic.
2) Technical SEO – I perform deep dive website audits on all things – backlinks, website performance, content and mobile optimization. Following the audit, I give my clients a roadmap for improvement.
3) Paid Search – I help clients improve their Google ads system from top to bottom – eliminating wasteful spending, auditing the search terms report, landing page optimization and squeezing more efficiency out of paid search traffic.
4) Conversion Rate Optimization – I help companies focus on high impact areas of their website and work on experiments to improve them. This is often paid traffic, but could also be pricing page or feature pages.
Companies can work with me directly as a fractional growth lead focused on “capturing demand” in their respective markets.
I also offer 1:1 personnel coaching for younger VPs of marketing and first time CMOs.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
