We recently connected with Brent “Shine” Johnson and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brent “Shine” thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
The fitness industry is filled with filters and photoshopped images of the perfect physique. However, at Apollo Breed Fitness we want people to find pride in natural physiques and the work it takes to develop a natural physique. Although we work with some enhanced individuals our primary focus is on natural physiques. It is gratifying to work with natural athletes and I am proud to be a natural athlete.
Brent “Shine”, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The name Apollo Breed was developed as an alter ego who was a hero and someone within myself that I could strive to emulate. Apollo Breed Fitness LLC was formed in 2021 after the extended quarantine. I received my first personal training certification in 2014 when I discovered that I wanted to use skills that I learned throughout my time as an athlete. We now how 5 coaches including myself and we are working on opening a facility in the Austin area. The services we offer are:
In-Person Coaching – $30/30 minutes, $45/45 minutes, $60/60 minutes per session
Exercise Program – $100 per month (4 weeks of workouts)
Meal Plan – $200 (4 weeks of macro-based meal recommendations)
Online Coaching – $400 (Weekly Check-ins, Bi-weekly Macros, Exercise Plan)
Hybrid – $550 (2 Weekly 30 minute sessions, Exercise Plan, Weekly Check-ins w/ macros
Competion Prep – $800 (2 Weekly Posing sessions, Daily Check-ins, Meal plan, Training plan

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my business partner and mentor Randall Braddock in 2014 when my life was spiraling out of control. As a LPC and life coach he helped me develop skills and habits that propelled me forward. Earlier on we would talk about creating a platform for me to help others while utilizing my innate abilities. We had many discussions that resulted in us forming Advantage Life Coaching 501(c)3 wherein we worked with at risk adults who were on probation or transitioning out of confinement.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson that I had to unlearn is not to push people too hard towards success. What I mean by this is to maintain the relationship with someone you must give them space to grow at a pace they can maintain. We often “want the best” for people we care about, but we must not push them too hard, too far or too fast. When we do this we risk losing that person.
