We were lucky to catch up with Yahne’ Jackson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Yahne’, thanks for joining us today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry?
In the PR and communications industry, Corporate America typically misunderstands the impact and power of innovation and authenticity. Many people are trying hard to keep up due to not having departments or specialists who solely work in PR or comm positions so there is not much room for success analyzation and upward adjustments. Trying to keep things clean and polished is what many people know as the “success” style. However, consumers and audiences see right through the facade. Brands, companies and corporations have to have purpose and persona same as people do. If not, the connection and relationships will be weak and you won’t last.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Yahne’ (Yah-nae), however many people call me “YonBon.” This nickname was given by my grandmother and spread to those around me.
I started out giving creative advice to my family and friends when it came to their creative hobbies acting, art, influencing , photography, networking, etc. No matter what job I worked at, clothing stores, airlines or banks, I always found myself doing work with their communication or strategic teams. Which gave me a very powerful resume before attending college. I originally went to school to become a news anchor but then realized that I had way too much fun playing behind the scenes for that job. My strengths are helping others find their voice, purpose, and strongest relationships within their personal and professional brands by building confidence and credibility while staying authentic to oneself. By staying consistent and growing a love for helping creatives and entrepreneurs meet their brand dreams I was able to build an outlet for my gifts. A hobby turned into a hustle, hustle turned into a mission, a mission turned into a movement and this movement turned into a powerful business that not only will my family benefit from but anyone who interacts with us as well.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
While pursuing my entrepreneurial dreams with PubliSIS Grind LLC, I found myself in the front seat as my own client to prove a lot of the work that I wanted to offer the potential clients that I was now trying to pitch to. I’ve had works that has gone viral and this began to build a lucrative influence income for my personal brand. I was happy to reach a new level of success however felt worried that I had too much on the table and wondered if it would soon come off as confusing. Two things that I quickly learned is that multiple streams of income is key and a high value individual will always evolve and further invest.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media wasn’t hard. Many people think that I was born with qualities that allow me to talk smoothly but they don’t realize that I spent many of years making cringe-worthy Youtube videos, forcing myself to post daily snapchat rants etc just to be comfortable with the way that I spoke. So number one is practice and number two is get out of your own head. You will always be your biggest critic. Its necessary but don’t let that get in your way. The people who are meant to connect with you “will.” Just make sure you continue showing up for them to find you.
