We were lucky to catch up with Layla Boyd recently and have shared our conversation below.

Layla, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

Becoming successful I believe means having to weed out the things that ultimately don’t matter. Everyone has different lifestyles and habits, however it comes a time where you have to step back and begin to question the things around you that don’t contribute to your growth to even BECOME successful. Next I’d say is having disciple and being consistent in the things that you have a passion for. Consistency provides room and clarity to only get better at the things you are trying to peruse. Networking is also a factor in becoming successful, yes it’s important to believe in yourself but having people around who also see things in you and can assist in building that brand/empire for you and one another is unbeatable.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I’d like to say that I am a jack of all trades, especially working in media. I’ve held interviews, blogged for companies, participated in brand partner ships, and even modeled for entrepreneurs and their brands. I graduated from Clayton State University with a degree in Communication and Media Studies. Lucky me, this was also the same year as when Covid began which slowed things down a bit for me. However I was able to land an internship over at Streetz 94.5, which was an amazing opportunity and a very proud moment for me, this was an internship I’ve wanted for the entire 4 years of college. The fact that I had gotten chosen was big for me. This internship had given me a chance for me to continue to stay stimulated in my passion working in media after almost a year of the world basically being shut down. The main thing I want my followers and supporters to know is that I am never going to stick to one thing, there’s so many things that interest me.. I could never stick to just one thing, Currently I am working on a podcast, so we can be on the look out for that!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

I’d say the best source of new clients is none other than Social Media! Tiktok and Instagram mainly, these platforms give creatives a chance to truly connect. Creatives use these Social Media apps as a platform to put their work out, and just a simple hashtag or a “For you page” can land you in the hands of an individual with similar passions!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being an creative for me personally is the relationships built along the way, meeting people that share similar interests and creating that longevity of having that circle of success. Also, the recognition and support from others that also see your vision. That is such an overwhelming feeling.. to know that others see you.
