We recently connected with Trevor Prioleau and have shared our conversation below.
Trevor, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
My parents did their part. They let me embrace myself in the parts of life I wanted to grow in – accepting responsibility and being accountable for my decisions. My parents are amazing. From jokes, hard times, and moments of reflecting, I’m blessed to not only have them but to be able to grow with them. No life is perfect. We’ve overcome so much and it’s been beautiful being able to experience life with parents that teach their kids – but are also open to learning from their kids. Through our talks, they made a lot of a little bit. They kept me involved in things, always made sure I stay grounded, kept conversations honest, and supported their kids’ growth even as adults.
I’ve seen my parents learn together but also fight for the life that they wanted – not just for them, but for me and my sister. Their community of family and friends are outstanding. They taught me how to interact with people in life and what to be mindful of. They influenced my relationship with God – I’ve watch them pray, practice their faith, become involved, help others . . . the list goes on. With them having to work to provide, we spent a lot of time around my grandparents and other family members growing up. I also grew up around my sister and that’s really the person who taught me how to be a friend. I am a reflection of my parents and their community – people they’ve place in our lives to help develop and look after each other. That’s true love – unconditional love – and the reason why I focus on community. If I couldn’t learn from my parents, there was someone within our network that I could learn from. I respect, honor, and love my parents for that!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Prodigy is a little bit of everything! It was intentionally built to be that way – to serve as an outlet for innovators. I specialize in photography, videography, web & graphic designs, and audio production. On top of those hats, I am a writer, author, artist, and assist others in small business development/management. The diversity of my business is what separates me from others since I don’t necessarily stick to one aspect when it comes to developing content. I embrace other ways to communicate feelings and ideas to the world while staying true to the initial vision. It’s art – it speaks for itself.
Originally, I was proud about my new book “Starting Over: Talks With My Father” which I released in March of 2022 after beating cancer. I challenged myself to be open about my journey and provide metaphors that could offer wisdom to anyone attempting to adopt a new mindset as they transition to new and unexpected phases of their life. As of now, I would say I’m proud that I’ve discovered ways to build community within my business. It’s beyond the pictures, videos, and music . . . every product has been a conversation that’s allowed others to discover more about themselves. That’s a blessing and a testament that your life is really not your own – it serves a bigger purpose.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth. That has grown my business the most. It pays to give your clients a great experience . . . not just a viable product.
