We were lucky to catch up with Hannah Wentworth recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
For all the years I have been working in photography, I have always felt a call to work with individuals, their points of view, and the desire to be more. I have always felt that need in myself and found that using photography helped me process my own outlook. One day, I was scrolling through Instagram. You know that moment you realize you have been scrolling through for a little too long. Yes, I was there. Well in that same instance, It hit me. Most–if not all–the influencers that I followed used photographers for their posts. This can be hard to spot most times. They used high-quality cameras that give their high-quality images more impact with a photographer with a very current point of view. When I started diving into the brand photography world, I realized how big of a market there was for this! So I pulled my sleeves up and decided then that I wanted to work alongside business owners and influencers to create continued content and visual impact for their businesses. Another aspect of being a photographer is being relational. That is huge to me throughout the whole process. I always joke with my clients that I am going to be their next best friend! All in all, My mission is to create visual impact, elevate my client’s businesses and create a relational environment for my clients to feel heard. That is why I do what I do.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! I’m Hannah! Your local brand photographer who is devoted to elevating your business and brand through creating visually impactful imagery. I originated from the pacific northwest (Seattle, WA Area) and have been blessed to be a part of the Houston, Texas community for the last 5 years. I have been behind a camera now for over 15 years and in 2017 graduated with a degree in photography. I have been married to my amazing husband for almost 10 years and we have a beautiful daughter. I have always been in art, whether I was painting, drawing, or doing design projects. The first time I put a camera in my hand – it was electric! Photography just felt like me. I have worked in many styles of photography from portraits, still life, fine art, maternity, school portraits, headshots, black and white, and senior portraits. Brand photography is what I love and it really feels like home to me. I love working with business owners and individuals to help freshen up websites, social media, and business collateral (Aka business cards). So many times, I see amazing service providers and products that do not get the recognition they deserve because their photography is out of date. My goal is to help my clients through the process of creating and developing their dream photoshoots. I offer one-time sessions that will include many different image quantities depending on use. I also offer my very desired social influencer packaging which is a monthly brand photography subscription. This helps you or your business with continued photography support throughout the year. I love working with any business. Because I believe all businesses can benefit from new brand photography.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
When I first moved to Houston, I got to experience what it felt like to start from scratch. I knew no one. I mean other than my husband. So I challenged myself — actually really pushed myself to do hard things– because it can be terrifying to put yourself out there. I found networking after networking opportunities. I would go to three-plus-a-week meetings and start meeting all sorts of business owners, made connections, and started to get my name out there. Soon, I started making real connections. After a year of working hard at this, I had to put my networking shoes up and away to provide for my family. Keeping up to date with all those relationships on social media. Now getting back into it all. I am finding all the work that I put in that one year is paying off! Referals, Word of mouth, Consistent posts to social media and open business networking groups on social media. These are my strongest new client sources. I feel so blessed to have so many wonderful connections and resources now.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I love keeping in touch with my clients. Right now, I use Honeybook to help organize all my client’s onboarding and offboarding. This helps me keep all my client details and planning in one area. I find being able to email my clients regularly throughout the process helps foster trust and loyalty. I also work hard to make sure that my clients feel heard and seen during every step. This is so much about them and their businesses. I am there to help them work through each stage without getting distracted.
