We were lucky to catch up with Robyn Fossen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Robyn , appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Taking a risk on starting this business during a global pandemic wasn’t easy it was very hard it’s still continues to be hard there are days where things go right there days where things don’t go right but at the end of the day I would not change anything about what my husband and I have started with this business and the smiles that we continue to put on peoples faces Knowing that you are the reason for making someone’s day that you are that ear to listen to someone when they just want to vent being there for our customers is the best feeling when we think that we are not making a impact we are when they tell us that they love our products when they tell us that our place is always clean when they tell us that we remind them of their childhood that’s the best feeling for us our motto is always we choose quality over quantity we are not a fast food restaurant so if you expect it to be done in 30 seconds that’s not who we are sometimes it take us 2 to 5 minutes to make a shake Because we are so busy but we are proud of what we put out

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are 222 cold brew specialty drinks and cereal bar as well as Sno Biz CLE we are known for our cereal blended milkshakes we do cookie shakes we do candy shakes we have frappe we have shaved ice we do slushy‘s and we do what is called zero in a cup it’s something that came about my husband and I we wanted to start a business I’ve always wanted to start a business and just going through what type of business I wanted to do I wanted it to be something that my husband and I can enjoy that it is fun and that we really you know could spend the time together and that we could enjoy doing we went through a lot of ideas until we finally came up with what we have we were going to do Italian eyes at the time looking to the cause the storage and things like that it just wasn’t feasible for us financially so we decided to do Shave ice and then our cold brew coffee came about that actually our coffee is local the guy that we get our coffee from his family actually owns a coffee farm in Columbia and that is where we get our coffee from him he is a very sweet young man his wife she’s very sweet as well and we get so many compliments on our coffee And then we decided to do the cereal bar part something that actually came about after our cold brew arm in the middle of 2020 I watched a couple on TV and they were a part of the inspiration for me doing what we are doing now and I went to Le cordon bleu college of culinary arts and decided to take that knowledge and at my own twist on to the Cereal Bar and here we are today
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As of today I still currently work a 4×40 as well as running the business with my husband my husband resigned from his job on July 2021 to focus on running a business full-time and I still continue to work my full-time 40 I get up at 3 o’clock in the morning I have to be to my full-time 40 at five I leave there at 5:30 I come to my shop at two until seven possibly maybe about eight because they are things that we have to do as far as cleaning and getting things ready for the next day and then we were me I start the same process over and over and over Monday through Friday we decided to close on the weekends during the fall months because there’s not enough foot traffic for us to stay open and the resilience for me is to keep pushing because my goal eventually is to My goal is to eventually continue to build this business and to be able to leave my full-time 40 so that I can focus on this

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My business partner is actually my husband and it’s not easy working with your partner arm because we work together at our business and we work you know and then we are home so there are some days when things we look at each other like really are you crazy what was I thinking but then there are those days when we just rock out and being able to do that we have our system we were like a well automated machine and people when they come in and see us do what we do they say we like dancing and we’re like a well organized machine because we have our system and it’s like a unspoken rule that we know how we flow I love my husband he is my best friend and us doing this together I would not have wanted to do this with any other person but my husband
