We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Summer Tinch. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Summer below.
Summer, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
When I began working as a Fashion Stylist in 2015 I took a huge leap of faith. At the time I was in college and studying Nursing. After several failed attempts at getting into a nursing program at the time, I realized that it wasn’t my path. At a point when I needed some sense of clarity of direction, I began praying. and God in his faithful sent confirmation. At the time, the confirmation I had received seemed very vague, but I began to seek him more about what I would be doing in Fashion. One day while studying I opened up my high school bible and came across the words “style” and I still small voice uttered, “get your kit.”
Ever since that day I have invested my own money and time into my development. From my early days working as a stylist assistant to doing projects of my own, etc. I have remained faithful to the process of developing my craft. Even in moments when the money didn’t match my ambition I never (not for one moment) thought about going back. I always considered the steps I needed to take in order for me to move forward.

Summer, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Summer Tinch and I’m you’re favorite Fashion Stylist. I believe in helping my clients maximize their style. Style I think is personal, it’s about saying who you are without having to speak and I want to help you find it. The basis for what I do as a stylist is founded on one principle “It’s not about the brand, but it’s about the style.” HEAVY on the style!
My services include but are not limited to image consulting, which includes styling for appearances, music videos, commercials, photoshoots, editorial shoots, etc. I also will begin providing closet makeovers beginning January 2023.
The one thing that I am most proud of at the moment is that I just earned the title of Assistant Costume Designer in Film and Television.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding part about being creative is that I can share my art with the world. I have the liberty to stay true to myself, make good art, and not color within the lines as they taught us in school

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn the ways of the industry and decide within myself to do something different. It’s so much information out there and very few are willing to share their knowledge with others. So I made a conscious decision that as much information I get from others is as much information I would give to those that need it and by doing that I have gotten much more in return.
