Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashley Schiefer . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ashley, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I lost my Dad suddenly in April of 2021 to a widow maker heart attack. After his passing our family got extremely ill and we were introduced to an angel of a nurse who shared more about her career shift. At the time I was working as a full time labor and delivery nurse and started working for an IV company called Revitalize, part time. After a few months went by my heart was leading me towards departing my hospital career due to the trauma I had experienced losing my dad and the repetitive trauma I was experiencing at the hospital. Two weeks before my wedding I left the hospital and went full time as a mobile IV RN. It was the best decision not only for me but my family that I am building as well.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Nursing was always where I felt God had called me. There is not a doubt that this is where he has led me and I am beyond grateful for the many avenues nursing provides.
I graduated during one of the most pivotal times in medical history, the pandemic. I landed my dream job as a labor and delivery nurse and fell in love with mother-baby care.
Eight months into my career, our family was struck by tragedy when my Dad passed suddenly. Our whole world changed overnight and the trauma that followed wore on my heart and my mental wellness. While experiencing my own trauma, I showed up day in and day out to work at a high risk OB department that cared for sick mommas and babies. My heart felt like it was being pulled in a million directions and I was exhausted.
During this time, I was also trying to find joy amidst so much sorrow as I was in the middle of planning a wedding to my best friend. Amidst all that life had brought us, I began praying that God would bring us through it and guide me in the right direction. That week I received some news and knew God was leading me out of bedside nursing and into a more full time position as a Mobile IV RN. This allowed me to focus more on our wedding and finally enjoy parts of planning that I missed out on. It gave me my peace back and opened the ability for me to pursue a few jobs as a social media manager as well.
Since moving into my Mobile IV RN position I have been able to create my own clientele and relationships with some amazing humans as well as recently launch an unconventional women’s ministry with my mom, all while running a few social media accounts.
My heart is to love people well and show up for those in need. As a mobile IV RN I have the ability to hydrate my clients and boost their immune systems; as well as offer anti nausea, anti inflammatories, stomach acid reducer, and an antihistamines as add ons. I truly love what I do as well as the flexibility it provides for my family in this season of life. I am beyond grateful for each of my clients and look forward to meeting even more people on this journey.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Social Media and word of mouth marketing! These are huge proponents of how my brand has come to be! As someone with a passion for design, I have worked hard to create an Instagram that reflects my brand and offers guidance and educational information regarding my business and offerings. Word of mouth marketing is another huge driver of gaining new clients. When you love a product or service it’s easy to shout it from the rooftops and my heart and goal is to always provide the best care to patients. In return they help share my brand and mission by sharing with their friends and family.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
Yes! I truly feel like this profession is where God called me. There is so much beauty in nursing and the opportunities are endless. Bedside is not the end all be all anymore. Nursing provides so many avenues and streams but you have to be willing to put in the work and find where you best fit.
