Apryl , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?

I’m definitely happy as a business owner and have no plans on returning to a regular job! I love creating my own schedule, being my own boss, and having myself to answer to. Why would I ever want to give that up?!

My name is Apryl Chanelle and I’m a hairstylist in Charleston,Sc. I do all hair types, but specialize in textured hair and Color.

This is an industry where you never stop learning. So I take pride in being knowledgeable. Continuing my education every chance I get. By doing so I’m able to give my clients my best. The best products, the best service and overall the best experience!

What sets me apart from most hairstylist is my love for color. Most African American hairstylist stray away from hair color, but I love bridging the gap between textured hair and color.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Posting as much as possible! When I started out, I practiced on family and friends and posted every hairstyle. They would also repost me to attract more people. I just used my ring light with my iphone 7. Nothing fantasy. Then Overtime my audience grew organically. So Stay consistent and post high quality material and your audience will grow!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

Being knowledgeable. Not staying stagnant. The more I know the more my clients knows. I love getting calls or text messages about how much better their hair is doing after taking my advice. I’m only able to do that by furthering my knowledge.
