We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful H’Elena Pleasant. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with H’Elena below.
H’Elena , appreciate you joining us today. Do you have any advice regarding quality control and maintaining quality as your brand grows?
Whether it’s growing in team size or increasing the # of sleepovers we set up in a month. Growing my company is one of my biggest goals. In order to maintain quality, I must understand my limits and decide what is important to me. Providing our clients with a one of kind, sleepover experience is very important. This means continuous improvement in our booking process and upgrading the items that are provided during a setup.
Another way I maintain quality as the company grows is by pacing our growth by ensuring we have the right factors in place before we expand by doing the proper research. For example, Do we have enough party assistants? Is there room in my schedule to prepare for more sleepovers during the week? Do we have enough inventory to cover extra parties?
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is h’Elena, owner of Dream House Sleepovers located in Greenville, SC. Dream House Sleepovers delivers a carefully curated event while eliminating the stress that often comes with event planning. The styling and theme options are unlimited, and with some direction from the client, we turn their wildest dreams into reality.
In 2018, my daughter told me she wanted a sleepover for her birthday. I love planning parties and giving a “WOW factor” to her parties. So I got on the internet to get some ideas for sleepovers. I saw the idea for a tent sleepover and immediately knew that is what I wanted to do. I was unsuccessful at finding a company in our area so I decided to do it myself.
Gathering the supplies needed for my daughter’s sleepover party was very challenging. I am creative but I wasn’t good at handy work. I was a person who never handled a drill before making a tents. I almost gave up several times but seeing the smiles on their faces made it all worth it.
My 2 children are my reason Why. I hope to leave behind a legacy they will proud of. On the hard days, I look at them and gain strength to keep moving forward.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe the 2 things that have contributed the most to building Dream House Sleepovers; reputation within our market and being consistent in responding to our clients in a timely fashion so that we are able to meet their needs and providing top notch service.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Setting expectations for myself and the team are important for managing a team. I also try to make the work environment fun to maintain a high morale.
