We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Scotti Fraser. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Scotti below.
Hi Scotti, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Recording my album has been an extremely meaningful project. As a US Marine Corps combat veteran of the Middle East wars, Telling my story of going to hell and back has been extremely meaningful. I hope to inspire other veterans and individuals suffering from personal trauma and hardship, but I am also finding that writing and recording songs is healing my brokenness from the invisible wounds of war.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a US Marine Corps combat veteran that shares my stories of my time in service and the road back home through my original music. I came home from combat overseas, very broken, and very wounded. As self therapy I began crafting the songs, frequently in the early hours of the morning after waking up from horrific war related nightmares. I have been in bands most of my life and I’m now using my experiences to share what I went through to inspire others to stand strong. I write and record songs that can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, and all streaming services and YouTube. I hope the lyrics in my music can offer hope to others. I am a combat veteran with a mission to reach others with the healing powers of music, and through camaraderie at my shows, in my home state of Texas, and beyond, in the hopes that no one feels alone.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I think it shows my resilience and I survived through numerous Frontline fire fights in combat in the Middle East. While I came home with severe emotional issues, and a neurological problem, I relearned how to function in public and went from being a recluse hiding in my house to centerstage under the lights in front of a crowd telling the story of what Veterans go through.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The mission driving my creative journey is to reach as many emotionally or physically wounded veterans, as well as those suffering from personal hardships. I hope to offer healing through the powers of music and inspire others to keep moving forward in life, through my lyrics.
