We were lucky to catch up with Andy Tetteh recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Andy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
As an actor it is important you educate yourself on filmmaking,so when I chose this path I first off started researching on what actors do then I continued and enrolled in a film school and that’s where I fully learnt everything with regards filmmaking. To be an actor one skill that is essential is learning the craft of acting, how to express yourself in a scene so you can be one of the best.
Some of the obstacles that stood in the way of learning was time and funding because when you have a regular 9 to 5 job it becomes difficult for you to have time to go research and learn more because you’re working to earn a living.

Andy , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Andy Tetteh an actor from Ghana. I got into the film industry when at a young age at 19 I watched a film and I felt I could do what I saw on television I could entertain so I started attending auditions and making contacts then I started getting opportunities.
In order for me be the best and standout I always research watch movies both local and international so I can be abreast of what’s happening and how to be the best at this. Also what sets me apart from others is my commitment, hard work and passion for my job.because I love what I do it doesn’t feel like work anymore it gives me joy and fulfillment whenever I find myself on set filming this as a result makes me put in my best .
I am proud of the fact that African cinema is developing and reaching everywhere in the world and I want people to know in a few years to come I will be one of the best actors on the African continent and I am going make sure I let the world know we have very good actors and films from this side .

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me I’ve always wanted to impact society and my country positively,so as a creative it gives me that power to educate and tell people the things happening through film and documentaries. This way people can learn a lot through entertainment and film. Also one of the most rewarding things as a creative is I get to meet people all over the world and tell them how beautiful Africa and my country Ghana is

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I started acting it was extremely difficult because in this part it is not easy to penetrate the film industry especially when you have no agent or some to represent you so I did everything on my own.Securing roles for films through auditions wasn’t easy but I never backed down I kept auditioning and giving my best at every opportunity I get and after 6 years I got a big breakthrough in a film
