Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Abib Jahleel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Abib, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
A lot of trial and error. I honestly wouldn’t change any of my experiences because every L was a lesson and it taught me invaluable skills that I wouldn’t have learned otherwise. The most essential skill I learned was patience. That may seem cliche but when you’re working on set a million things are happening and there’s always a lot of moving parts so it’s easy to get overwhelmed, but i realized early on that having the patience to not rush the process makes it a smoother and less stressful experience in the long run. The only obstacle that ever stood in my way was my own ego but i’m glad to have evolved past that now.

Abib, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Abib Jahleel and i’m a Creative Director/Filmmaker/ and AI Artist based in Atlanta, GA. I’ve filmed and edited several Music Videos, Documentaries, and Films for over 13 years now and recently began learning AI Art and Graphic design. My brand is I create Art and I co-own a Video Streaming platform called TONE. As an artist I pull heavily from my Rastafarian upbringing and my Afro Jamaican background. I want to tell stories about our ancestors in a way that hasn’t been done before by showing the richness of societies in Africa and in the Caribbean and the wisdom that shines through in our cultures. I’m proud to have contributed significantly to the Art scene in Atlanta and to Co-Own a fully Black owned Streaming Service that provides opportunities for collaboration and curation with the wider Art community in Atlanta and internationally.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is community. The amount of incredible people i’ve met along the way is incredible. But to be honest I almost kept myself from experiencing something so fulfilling by listening to my ego and wanting to isolate but i realized early on that this was a flawed way of trying to affirm my sense of self and ignore my insecurities.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I think with any technology we have to wait and see how it matures. Right now Art is the wild wild west (even though I dislike that phrase) and to be honest that excites me because innovation pushes people to be more creative instead of relying on established routes to getting their Art seen and appreciated. If it changes the status quo I’m all for it. Who knows I may have an NFT project soon. If i’m inspired to do so will be the determining factor.
