We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shudi Nelson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shudi below.
Shudi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to pursue my path when I saw what came out of doing it & also what came with it, good & bad. I dropped out of high school when I first started attempting to do music lol it was a wild ride but from that point on amongst the praise that I’ve been getting from my work, I’ve been pursuing it much more.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Shudi Nelson, stage name is ‘El Shudi, & I am a producer, engineer, & entrepreneur. I’ve gotten into music in 2010, was still in high school, using the netbooks that the school have given us for mainly music than schoolwork lol. It led to me getting dropped out of high school & having to get my GED. Started using my mom’s desktop to make beats using the demo version of FL Studio for 2 years straight till I finally got me the full thing. Sold my first beat in 2012 & just perfected my craft along the way. 2016 comes & discovered Pro Tools. Learned that it was somewhat similar to making beats but with a twist. Fell in love with that more than making beats & ended up producing, mixing, & mastering my first tape with my good brother Blacc Mel from Macon, GA called “Know Gut, Know Glory”. Afterwards I’ve been either producing or mixing for other local artists & also started making beat tapes to put out for the world to listen & vibe to.
I feel like what sets me apart from others is that in my heart I don’t do it for money & when I try to because I’m being convinced that I got to get paid for every single time I do a service for anyone, I tend to not get paid at all, but I do ironically when I just simply do it for the love of it.
I’m most proud of the journey that I had to go through & STILL going through to perfecting my craft & simply doing what I love to do & making people happy in the process.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is show any creative out there that you can do whatever you want & to not be afraid of doing the thing that gives you spark. Do not wait for someone to give you the “thumbs-up” to simply start. Just start, give your praises out to The Mist High, & inspire others to keep that same flow going.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
To make people smile & to portray a needed message for society to grasp in the form of instrumentals like how an artist portrays their messages through their lyrics. To see people grasp the message is very rewarding in itself because as it is feeding me with the acknowledgments I get from others, it’s still feeding them knowledge that they were either already seeking or didn’t even know they needed in their life for them to become a better version of themselves.
