We recently connected with Keegn and have shared our conversation below.

Keegn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

Since I was a kid, I always had a love for music. My family members always tell me that when I was younger anytime a song played I would pick up a spoon or hairbrush and start performing singing it as loud as I could. That love eventually turned into something I chose to pursue when I graduated highschool. My grandfather was a huge inspiration to me growing up and he sadly passed away my senior year of highschool and I think that was the point where I decided to pursue music professionally because I knew it’s what he would’ve wanted me to do. He always told me to do what I loved!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Keegn, is a 22-year-old Indo-Trinidadian and Tobagonian artist living in Houston, TX. He is currently attending the University of Houston for media production while pursuing a career as an artist. In 2020, Keegn found success with his single, “X”. Since then, he has continued to develop himself as an artist and released further tracks, “Love How You Hate Me”, “Pop Shots” and more. In 2021, he was invited to Tampa, Florida to perform for the NFL’s Super Bowl Pre-Game Concert put on by 2HotRadio.

Keegn’s music focuses on the journey of an ambitious individual trying to accomplish his dreams of being the best possible version of himself. He talks about his experiences going through this journey of life in order to achieve his goals in a way which other people can relate to.

I want my fans to know that whatever challenges they are going through in life, they are not alone and they will get through it. I express positivity through my lyrics and emphasize the point to keep pushing through whatever obstacles get in the way of your success.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Yes! Trying to be the best artist possible but also to inspire and even save the lives of my fans. I know there are many artists that I have listened to in the past that have “saved” me through their music so I hope to do that for my fans. Being an inspiration and someone who can save my fans is much more important to me than any money I get from being an artist.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The comments and messages from people saying how much they love my music and how much it impacts them. It brings a smile to my face every time I see positive comments from people about my music.
