Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Enrique Ferrer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Enrique, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I started in music as a drummer, taking private lessons after school. At first it just seemed as a hobby for a teenager. But eventually I started playing in different bands, until I became part of “Cocobeat”. This was perhaps my first “professional” experience in music. We went to the studio and recorded a full-length album. This was the first time I had been in a recording studio, and the overall experience was simply magical. I could not believe what I was listening from those mixing sessions was actually us playing! When I heard the final product I cried of emotion. And right there, I knew I wanted to do audio production as a full-time job and lifestyle. I wanted to be the person that could give these young bands the same feeling I got back in the day as a musician listening to my finished songs.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an audio engineer, music producer and drummer originally from Venezuela, currently located in the city of Miami, FL.
I got into the audio production industry as most of my peers have done in the past. First, I was playing drums with bands, then I was recording our first single and at some point our album. You repeat this process a couple times, people start to know about your work, and eventually you are doing it for other bands! It is a never ending process of creation.
In the present moment, I offer full-stack production services such as recording, mixing, editing and mastering for bands, artists and songwriters. I also do live sound for concerts, corporate events and houses of worship.
I believe what sets me apart from others, is the fact that I am musician that has been involved in all kinds of music genres. As a person that comes from South America, I am obviously familiar with Latin music, but at the same time I am super into rock, pop, funk, reggae, jazz and electronic music.
Some of the projects I am most proud of are “Seas Of Fontaine” and “The Nashville House Syndicate”… Seas Of Fontaine is my punk rock band from Nashville… Yes, punk rock is not dead! We have released two albums and we are currently working on our third production. The Nashville House Syndicate is an independent house/techno music label that I co-founded with my friend Daniel Fornica back in Nashville. We have released over 10 productions in the USA, Europe and Asia, both in digital and vinyl formats. I have been the mastering engineer of all of those releases!
Here in Miami I own my personal music production space where I can record, mix and master for clients. I also offer on-site multi-track live recording services, for live sessions and concerts!
And obviously, I still play drums!
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
If you are a music lover and you want to support the local scene, you just need to go to shows! Support local talent.
Go see them play, share pictures and videos of their shows, this will help them grow their network.
If they are selling their music or merchandise, try to buy it!
Young bands really appreciate their local support. At the end of the day, the local scene is what can make a band grow.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes! There is a book by David Byrne called “How Music Works”. Even if you are not a musician, I encourage you to read this book, it is a jewel!
The book not only applies to music production, but to life in general. It shows you how David Byrne has been able to ride the wave of music thru all of these years, celebrating the good times, and learning from the bad times. If you are an entrepreneur, freelancer or you have your own business, you will learn from this!
