We were lucky to catch up with Sunni Boenker recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sunni , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
Growing up, my parents were very involved in all aspect of my school studies and extra curricular activities like sports. My parents taught me to have “Grit” and to always compete at my best.
They believed that if you put in the training and hard work every time you practiced at something you would be successful in competition or test time. I have taken these lessons and applied them throughout my life for personal and professional endeavors.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Sunni’s Bio:
I am a native Texan and have lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area my entire life. I am married to my high school sweetheart who I met when we were both 16 yrs old. I have two amazing children, my daughter Madison (14) and my son Grant (12).
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, working out with my husband and daughter, boating lake Grapevine and watching my kids play youth sports. My current addictions are as follows…5am HIIT workouts, Hot Yoga, Charcuterie boards, my Bichon (Pierre) and of course Stevie Nicks.
After graduating from Texas Christian University with a Bachelors in Business & Marketing, I knew I wanted to do something that challenged me as well as allowed for growth. I chose to start my own Farmers Insurance agency in North Richland Hills, TX and have been thankful and blessed from day one.
This year I celebrated 20 life changing years as a Farmers Insurance Agency Owner. During those 20 years I have enjoyed growing my agency from my first policy sold into a business that now proudly services thousands of Farmers clients each year. My agency has has been recognized by Farmers for achieving our company’s highest award, Presidents Council.
Let’s talk M&A – we’d love to hear your about your experience with buying businesses
Over the last 20 year in the insurance industry I have been fortunate enough to grow my business well organically as well as through acquisitions. When the right acquisition opportunity became available I jumped at the chance to acquire a similar insurance business that would compliment what I was already managing while also growing my revenue. I did the research and due diligence on the business I was purchasing, retained a business attorney, negotiated the sale price and secured the funding.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I first started in the insurance industry 20 years ago, the Texas market was exposed to a lot of mold claims. The insurance carrier that I had signed on with had largely halted selling new home insurance. Home insurance was the bulk of my agencies renewal and new business revenue.
I quickly realized that in order to keep my staff and grow revenue we would need to pivot to other insurance lines of business like auto and commercial insurance. Had I not quickly moved my marketing I would not have had the revenue to retain my staff and grow.
