Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shakera Brinson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shakera , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Life is So Sincere was conceived in 2018 when I found out I was expecting the arrival of my first born, my (son)shine Sincere. I had a calling early on that I would make a difference in this world. Growing up, I always had an urge to do things with purpose and help others, so over the course of the years I’ve been able to engage in many things. This was different though, I would be giving life to my first born and building a legacy. The Holy Spirit gave me the idea “Life is So Sincere” and to focus on women because obviously I’m a woman and have positive influence over other women. Many would often come to me for advice or inspiration anyway, so it made sense to focus my brand on motherhood, lifestyle, and inspiration.
Shakera , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Shakera! A servant, lover, carrier of joy, motivator, facilitator of environments, nurturer and creative. I’m a widow and have the honor of being a mother to two (baby boy and baby girl). We all have a story to tell and I choose to utilize my voice through my platforms. I empower moms and women to confidently live in purpose while building generational wealth. I was called to entrepreneurship when I found out I was pregnant with my son. I manifested at an early age that when I have children, I wanted to be home and work my business. By the grace of God, I was able to leave the classroom as a First Grade Teacher and be home Full Time. I create motherhood, lifestyle, and inspirational content. I have digital ebooks (Self Mastery, Thinking Positively and Time Management) available to help women grow on their journey to confidently live in purpose. Also, I have a plethora of inspirational videos on my YouTube channel. I am most proud of my growth, I always say you glow as grow on your journey, so it’s important to go all in on whatever it is that you do and truly enjoy the process.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My beginnings on social media dates back to “Tagged and Myspace” days, long before YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc. I have always been a social butterfly and technology made it that much easier. However, back then, the intent was solely leisure, I didn’t think that one day I could have a thriving business from social media. I remember being introduced to Instagram as a freshman in college and a friend at the time said, “This is going to be the next big thing, you should definitely hop on” and he showed me a picture of a water bottle post. I was instantly intrigued because why would anyone want to see a picture of a water bottle. However, he explained that Instagram was simply for posting “instant photos of whatever you like or were doing”, so of course I created an account with a following of a bunch of family, friends and people who knew of me, nothing too serious. I utilized my little squares for three inspirational quotes and three pics of me living, you know the old 3×3 method. But, that was unconsciously at the time because I truly wasn’t thinking “strategy”, however, many people that followed me truly enjoyed the content I shared. I did this for many years, really up until 2018, when I was introduced to the world of Blogging as a business. I started to see so much mom lifestyle content, possibly because I was expecting but I saw the opportunity to monetize and went all in.
Honestly, I know this will sound so cliche, but, BE YOURSELF! Everyone and I mean everyone is practically on social media now but there is room for YOU. Social media, the culture, and society influence people at a rapid rate but I truly believe “Life is So Sincere” Show up as you and say what you genuinely feel or believe even if it doesn’t agree with everyone else. As long as your intentions are pure and not putting yourself or anyone else in danger, do you. Your people will find you and connect with you and be okay with wherever you are on your journey because many people get caught up in vanity metrics.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Whew, can I, I have so many that I could share but, being mentally and spiritually strong is everything. That’s a journey within itself because you have to work at both every single day. You can let a situation change you or either change your perspective on a situation. The sooner people realize that every experience is apart of the journey, the sooner they can achieve more.
In 2nd grade, I was hit by a speeding car and hospitalized for several months. Doctors reported one thing but God reported another. So, I’m not supposed to be here but with my moms faith and the knowledge of God she instilled in me I knew I’d be able to get up and walk again. “Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving; we get stronger and more resilient.” Dr. Steve Maraboli
Through life experiences on my journey, I learn lessons, gain wisdom and clarity from God. One thing for sure and two things for certain. He is the only one that knows the beginning to the end. We have to #WalkByFaithAndSlay + Pray each and everyday because God will always make away.
