We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Grant Wallace a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Grant, appreciate you joining us today. Any advice for creating a more inclusive workplace?
I’m interested in working with anyone that has a good attitude and a drive to work. Any age, gender, color, ethnicity, human, extra terrestrial, dog, cat. Everyone is welcome if they bring something to the table and don’t mind working in the heat. Come check out the team and apply at grantlantalawn.com!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As of a month ago we implemented a new strategy I’m pretty excited about. When customers reach out via our contact form on the website it goes to the team in real time so you could be scheduling your free yard consultation within minutes of reaching out. We specialize in everything from yard maintenance visits to full landscaping makeovers. I’ve teamed up with local artists R. Land and Catlanta to help with our company logos and designs and I’m always looking for more art so if anyone else is interested please reach out!
Any advice for managing a team?
I let my crew be their own boss. They can choose their schedule, route, customers and even how much they want to get paid. It’s an unorthodox system but it works when you got the right people on your team.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Having thousands of dollars in equipment stolen. I personally have been robbed more than I can remember. Almost everyone on the team has had at least one leaf blower stolen. But check us out, we still here!
