We were lucky to catch up with Sallie Holder recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sallie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
The biggest risk I’ve taken is ditching my legal and COO level career in pursuit of what truly set my heart on fire. To paint the picture I had just received a Young Professional of the Year award and was dubbed one of the “Best and Brightest 35 and Under” by the Chamber of Commerce. I had felt like everything had culminated to this moment and I could say I was officially successful. Fast forward to that night and I couldn’t stop the tears as I realized that this wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life at all. I wasn’t at rock bottom, not even close. I was what I set out to be, a lawyer and successful, but the realization that I had set out on a path without considering who I was or what I wanted to be left me bereft. I was, as I later coined, stuck in rock middle. It was then that I had to redefine my path and take the risk of leaving the career I had spent so many years building to redefine what I wanted to do.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Sure, my name is Sallie Holder. I am the founder and CEO of The BRIMM, a company that specializes in helping like-minded female entrepreneurs realize and ultimately achieve their true potential. My expertise and unique background as a former lawyer and COO make my approach unique. The proven methodology I’ve developed inside The BRIMM’s Revenue Accelerator has led me to become one of the most distinctively decorated business coaches in the Southeast. I’ve spent the last several years obsessing over why women were experiencing a lack of growth in their companies at higher rates than men and researching what I could do about it. And all of that studying helped me finally crack the code to creating more female founded 7 figure businesses. In my free time you can find me bouncing between my home in Greenville, SC and NYC. Spending time with my two children Edward and Catherine, my twin sister Stacy (owner of Hampden Clothing in Charleston, SC) and spoiling my beloved chocolate lab Chewie and mini Aussie-doodle, Sugar are my favorite ways to fill my cup.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients continues to be word of mouth and connecting with those that I know. I often find that female business owners can be shy or scared to leverage their connections, but when you know your offer is valuable and can provide a transformation to someone it is to your and their detriment to not offer up that win-win.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I continue to use my social media presence to connect with my audience. The best advice I can give is to understand that social media is a conversation. It is not the place to try to sell your products or offer right away. While there is a time for selling on social, social media is about your followers getting to know, like, and trust you. You have to show up, engage, and understand that it’s likely one of their first exposures to you and you have a little bit of rapport building to do first.
