We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeannette Roberes a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jeannette, appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Entrepreneurship is for risk takers! Successful risks provide opportunities and failed risks shape business strategies. After founding Bearly Articulating in 2015, I decided that risk would be my companion as I work tirelessly to create resources for underrepresented populations. I’ve been told no more times than I remember and yes equally as many. I began my company as a tutoring service, and later an educational consultancy. Each phase represented challenges and each time I pivoted to serve a greater good.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an author who has worked as a speech pathologist, software engineer and educator. I’ve spoken in over 40 countries and have earned recognition in The Washington Post and U.S. News & World Report, among other media acknowledgements. My debut book, Technical Difficulties: Why Dyslexic Narratives Matter in Tech, has received 5 star reviews across Goodreads and Amazon. It’s available on any online platform where books are sold. My current position is the Chief Academic Officer of Bearly Articulating
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I currently have 16k followers on Instagram and I’m considered an influencer. To build social media presence you must build consistency for your brand. Daily posts that provide education on a topic and evoke a call to action is the way to go!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Clients trust their friends. This is why word of mouth marketing is lucrative. According to a Nielsen study, 92% of consumers believe suggestions from friends and family more than they do advertising – this statistic alone speaks volumes.
