We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lennis Perez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lennis below.
Alright, Lennis thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was your school or training experience like? Share an anecdote or two that you feel illustrate important aspects or the overall nature of your schooling/training experience.
While training to become a Chopra primordial sound meditation teacher, I met a group of ladies who have been key in contributing to each other’s success. We all started the training during the first year of the pandemic. Everything was virtual, all the meetings, training, with the exception of our individual daily meditation practice. I stumbled upon this group of ladies by chance (or so I thought).
This all started while I was working with the Chopra team on promoting the training to underrepresented entrepreneurs and one lady, Yvonne, who was part of the community where I was promoting this training, decided to join.
A few months passed and I reconnected with Yvonne, she had joined the meditation certification program and had been studying with a group of ladies and asked if I wanted to join the group. I jumped at the opportunity.
It has now been 2+ years since I met this group of wonderful human beings, we created a beautiful bond and have been meeting regularly on Sundays to meditate and share our lives together. The best part of this experience is that I was able to connect with these ladies who live all around the world, from England to Germany and Italy, from California to New York.
I am forever grateful that this teacher training experience allowed me to forge friendships with kind and beautiful people that I wouldn’t have met if it wasn’t for the pandemic and our personal desires to be agents of change in the world.
Lennis, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Lennis, the founder and Wellness Engineer behind Just Lennis, LLC, a wellness consulting company focusing on helping organizations and individuals tap into their authenticity and sense of belonging while implementing stress management strategies to prevent burnout. This results in improved efficiency, productivity, and overall well-being. Since 2016, my company has served thousands of audience members plus small businesses and entrepreneurs. Our vision and mission include making physical and mental well-being accessible to everyone in a way that is not only practical but also sustainable.
A little bit more about my journey here. I earned a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering and have over 16 years of experience working in the chemical industry. I’m also a Chopra certified meditation teacher, coach, and certified in plant-based nutrition. After experiencing first-hand the high stress and high demand STEM careers put on individuals, I decided to change my focus and career trajectory to be of service to other individuals who may be experiencing similar things.
Workforce well-being has become a key element to an organization’s long term success.
A research conducted by Deloitte and Workplace Intelligence in February of 2022, surveying 2,100 people, showed that unless organizations are able to rise to the challenge of addressing workforce well-being, 57% of employees said they may soon quit for a more supportive job.
As companies recognize the impact workforce well-being has on its culture and overall success, it is important to provide support to individuals as they navigate daily challenges.
Through workshops, masterclasses, and personalized training sessions, I help my clients learn the tools and strategies that allow them to design their unique wellness roadmap. I call this approach Engineering Wellness from Within (TM).
Being able to see the transformation and results my clients get within just a short period of time working together is the thing I am most proud of.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn through this journey is that hard work is the only path to success. I grew up seeing role models (including my parents) that demonstrated this as a fact of life, especially if you wanted to become a business owner and entrepreneur. When you follow your passion, you may feel that you have to be constantly producing or responding, constantly saying yes to opportunities and this leads to burnout. I learned to worked with my feminine cycle, respecting the energy changes I experience as my hormones fluctuate. I also learned to evaluate the return of investment on my time and say no to many opportunities.
I have been able to work smarter, not harder, and see how from this approach the business has been able to grow at a faster pace than trying to do it all.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Finding great mentors, role models, and learning from other’s mistakes so that I don’t have to repeat them myself. Also, embracing authenticity, this has created a powerful shift and has attracted opportunities I would have never thought were possible. The clients I attract are in alignment with my values because that’s what I show and what I share.
