Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Red Lion. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Red, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
There are many amazing projects that I’ve had the honor of participating in… They range from stage plays, to music albums, to community fundraisers, to workshops, and everything else in between… But I must at admit the one project that has stayed close to my heart was an event called “The Love Project”… This particular project was actually an event that was put on by an organization called “House Of Her” and the visionary behind the event is named is an artist by the name of Sh Davis… This project was specifically designed to explore the different aspects of love… The romance, the heartbreak, the healing, the passion, etc… This one has so much significance to for a few reasons… One of the reasons is that this event brought so many creatives together into one room, and we were able to engage with each other and celebrate each other… But I will say the main reason this project is so close to my heart, is that it pushed me past certain limitations I’ve had as an artist… It also allowed me to heal some emotion wounds that I had been personally dealing with… I could talk about this project all day but we gotta keep this ball rolling…
Red, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

To explain what I do in short terms… I’m a performance poet (Spoken Word Artist)… That means that I take the written literary art of poetry and make it come alive right before your eyes…
.
My services range from single man shows, live performances with bands, wedding performances, school speaking engagements, writing workshops, theater performances, and just about anything else that has to do with writing…
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
There are two primary goals I have when it comes to pursuing poetry… The first goal I have with poetry is to speak what I believe God has given to speak, which is hope… The world has an abundance of negative emotions, but i does not have an abundance of hope… And I intended to use poetry to instill that hope… The second goal is to push the genre of Spoken Word forward in a more main stream setting… Poetry has been a driving force in every major revolution in America… Poetry itself is the backbone of every music genre… However it has not gotten the recondition it deserves…
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative for me, has been the ability to connect with people… Art helps us in many ways, not just entertainment, but also in understanding one another… Poetry has put me in many different rooms with many different people, who have many different walks of life… Poetry has given me the ability to empathize and sympathize with so many… Human beings are meant to be an fellowship with each other, and poetry has given me a unique way to connect…
