We were lucky to catch up with David Woods recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, David thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company “Tony Visions” was developed around 2017. My original personal nickname was Tony growing up. When I got thrown into my first runway show we needed a brand name. I was always very focused on the vision I had for whichever piece I was making. I had the tendency to go through a tunnel vision process when working. So we combined Tony Visions for the name. I kind of always saw it as not me, but more of a artistic John Doe. Anybody and everybody can be “Tony Visions”. It became more of a mind state than a personal name.



Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I broke into the industry after 3 years of self lessons. Learning to sew, market and create. We started selling at pop up shops, then on runway shows. Quickly we started going from city to city. Leaving a trail of good vibes and clothes as we move. We created a new element in fashion. Something pure and untainted. We cultivate our surroundings and take pride in empowering our people. Growing our network so everyone can blossom.
Since our begging, we’ve taken on huge shows from New York, to London, Paris and even the hard rock hotel.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being different. I keep my head down and don’t compare my work to anyone or anything. I strive towards my own vision and people see that. They notice it and have to respect it.



Any advice for managing a team?
Be transparent. In the creative industry you will quickly have your card pulled if you go into something with a misunderstanding of what you’re doing or delivering. There’s plenty of room for growth and understanding but you’ll never achieve that without being transparent.
