Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mianca Woodall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mianca , appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I absolutely love to travel and do crazy excursions while on my trips. I would always take dope vibrant pictures that would get featured on all types of outlets . One day I stopped and realized how many people loves my angles and style of my pictures. I then decided to take it serious and turn it into my full time profession. Considering the city I live in and the effect social media was having on people I knew I would be booked and busy!
Mianca , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Once I took my photography serious I reached out to several friends and word of mouth had my schedule filling up quick. I take my passion for photography very seriously because first impression is everything. I create a safe space for my clients and work with them up until we shoot! I do my best to recreate my clients vision to help boast their engagement/ visibility on their deserved platforms. The feedback I receive after each shoot confirms that this is my niche!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I almost didn’t pursue my photography because there were so many well known photographers in the Atlanta area. Which was my first mistake because I realized everyone sees things from their perspective which can be completely different than others. Which is what makes each creative in a sense untouchable! I also got feedback from several clients who said they preferred shooting with a woman for different reasons. Which is something that never crossed my mind but I was happy to be there for them. I say all that to say you never know where your needed until you try.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing for me has been NYFW. I shot a client during a fashion show and my pictures went viral. The same panel reached out to me because they wanted me to be apart of NYFW. All the models loved their shots which opened huge doors for me. I never know where my pictures are going to land or when but it never ceases to amaze me.
