Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tia Silver. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Tia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I wish I could say I was the first to think of this business but sadly, I am not. I discovered the world of princess parties when I was pursuing my undergrad in San Francisco. I needed a job that would be flexible around my school schedule and of course wanted something fun! I had a friend introduce me to a company that hired actors to play fairytale characters for birthday parties. With me being an acting major and Disney obsessed I knew it would be the perfect job for me! I enjoyed my time working as a performer but after graduation, fate brought me back to my home state of Maryland.

I wanted to continue working as a birthday party princess but found very few companies in Maryland and none in the Baltimore/Annapolis areas. I knew there was a need for this type of entertainment and decided to fill the gap by starting my own company. Since I was a performer previously, I knew exactly what worked and what didn’t and brought that expertise into creating The Neverland Company.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

The Neverland Company was founded by Tia Silver in September of 2017. Our mission is to provide the Ultimate Character Experience, like you’ve stepped right into your favorite fairytale! We are passionate about bringing magic to our community and to putting a smile on all faces, big or small. We love making magical memories that last a lifetime!

We specialize in children’s parties and event entertainment. With an assortment of characters to choose from; our performers story tell, sing, dance and delight your little one with a variety of activities, including face painting and character themed games.
We provide top notch costumes to the best theatrically trained performers, ensuring only the highest standard of children’s entertainment.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Thinking about and putting attention toward every little detail. From using custom-made costumes and hand styled wigs, I put every effort into all of the details of our characters, parties and events to create the best experience for you possible! We want our events to feel like you’re in Disney World and are singing along with the real characters. Word of mouth have been are largest form of gaining new business!

Any advice for managing a team?

I pride myself in hiring only the best theatrically trained performers, many of which also have childcare experience. I strive to hire reliable and responsible performers who will maintain the company standard even when I am not present. I give my performers a lot of freedom and flexibility in their schedules. We use a scheduling app that makes it very easy to block off their schedules or pick up more events if they choose. I couldn’t run this business without an amazing team behind me! They are what makes each event magical and keeps our clients coming back year after year.
