We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ianasia Wainwright a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ianasia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I’m a very creative person. From creating my own hustle at 18, to using my social media platform to build my upcoming empire. I feel like I my ideas are dreams I’ll never stop chasing. I had an idea of selling lashes it was the hottest thing on the market. Although I was inspired I had to realize how can I be different. I conversed with my dad, god bless his soul. He always gave me the encouragement to go hard and follow my dreams. I hand made my lashes from the packaging to strips. I was determined to be divergent with my brand. I named it “I-lashes” get it? My name is Ianasia which begins with the letter I, the product was lashes which you wear on your eyes. So creative. Eventually I wanted to do more, like I said I’m so creative. Art inspires my style etc. My entire lifestyle. I rebranded by adding accessories to my lash line. I wanted the girls to have MORE! My marketing was amazing. I changed the name from ilashes to “LA” which stood for “lashes and accessories”.
With the business i attached fur slides and affordable custom jewelry to my business. I was in business with LA for 3 years successfully.
I needed MORE! By 21 I knew I wanted to be my own boss! This was the lifestyle I wanted to pursue.
I told myself if I could build a brand from scratch, I absolutely could build a business/brand where I could teach others the same. I came up with Vendor7. To become a millionaire you need 7 streams of income plus a business plan. Vendor7 became my money maker! I moved into my own apartment, bought a new car for my son & I. I also was able to help over 200+ people start a business. I have mentored over 100+ people on how to brand and market their very own business under my brand. That’s major! I made over $10k alone with that business. I was very successful through a pandemic as well.
An entrepreneur isn’t an easy job. It has it’s days where it gets hard but I knew with good faith and God anything is possible. The word impossible doesn’t sit right with me. I look at that word and see “ IM POSSIBLE”.
2020 I started my clothing brand. I sold over 50 hoodies. I’m actually in the process of rebranding. Anything I put my mind to, I can do! I’m a multi-talented and woman of many hats. I have a raw extensions hair line, I only sell RAW hair. meaning unprocessed. This brand/business has led me to now becoming a suite owner at the age of 24. I graduated from high school taking a trade of cosmetology and completing and professionally finishing as a hairstylist. My suite gives women an experience of all things beauty and creativity. From products I sell to hairstyles clients and I create. I know a part of my purpose is to share my light and enlighten others about their very own. I create from moodboards, notes and prayer. It’s a blessing to be where I am now just off being myself and faith. God is my source. He is amazing.
Ianasia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am 24 years old, I love being relatable. Like I said before I really believe I am a source of inspiration to others. I plan to aspire to inspire until I expire. I am a mom who wants the absolute best for my kids. I want to be able to create generational wealth. I did ALOT of research on my business industries. I had to distant myself from certain situations. I had to focus! Focusing on my consistency was key. My Vendor7 business provides services to help aspiring entrepreneurs build a brand/business. I create websites, provide satisfaction vendors/manufacturers for owners. My clothing brand offers affordable STREETWEAR clothing with a designer feeling to make people feel comfortable and good about what they are wearing.
My hair business is only RAW! Raw hair from extensions to its packaging.
If you aren’t wearing “SAINT” extensions it’s certainly a sin at this point. My hair brand is the most luxurious hair brand on the market. I am most proud of how I can think of an amazing idea and execute. I have strong faith in my businesses. I love how I am able to have the freedom to spend time with my family. I love what I do. I am grateful for it all. I really want my clients/followers/supporters to know know if you believe it you can receive it! Have faith! Stay consistent, have a passion for what you want to do and execute!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I would say the most efficient strategies for growing my clientele and customers was the way I marketed myself. It was key. I would post consistently and stay true to my supporters. Everyone to this day feels like they’ve known me since I started my very first business.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My hustle and ambition built my reputation. There’s never a time I’m not working, even when I’m on vacation or on mommy duties. It doesn’t stop because it can’t stop. I’m nowhere near where I’m supposed to be.”My work ethic is really unmatched in my opinion.
