Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dallface Simone . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dallface, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
When it comes to social media, im definitely the man behind the man when it comes to business. I make all of my flyers and templates and it isn’t always the easiest however, I get it done. Whenever there’s something new happening or a trend going on I try to incorporate that into my business without completely following the wave. I like for things to be relatable and eye catching but with my sauce on it. (If you know what I mean) Just so people are still identifying “That’s Dallface’s Brand”
Dallface, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jessica, but people know me as Dallface Simone. I’m a freelance makeup artist as well as model, located in Atlanta. I first began my dance with makeup as a high schooler (maybe long before then) and always found my way back to it between college at Bauder for Fashion Merchandising and my love for retail and art. It all came hand in hand for me . I landed my first salon chair in 2013/14 at South Dekalb Mall. After learning more about myself and what I wanted out of business and art I decided to do more freelance gigs, sometimes referring myself as a model and the makeup artist. My clientele grew ranging from events, weddings, and photoshoots to magazine collabs, clothing brands, and some of Atlanta’s largest festivals. My ultimate goal is to build a brand women can learn from and relate to; creating fashion and beauty opportunities, branding assistance, and tangible knowledge from all perspectives in the beauty industry. I am still behind the brush and can’t wait to watch my small business flourish into the beauty empire I know it to become.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of my biggest lessons has to be “ Create at your own speed. “ I am very critical of self and we all have those times where creative block and distractions get the best of us. The best thing I could have done in my least creative moments was rest. It will reset you for some of the dopest ideas. Your mind is literally sometimes begging for you to just let it flow and in business if you’re not willing to open up and let things grow then you’ll probably be repeating the same things. Reset. Relax. Regroup. Ready to go!!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When it comes to social media I can’t say I’m the girl that’s super professional, has layout apps that strategically posts everyday, or checking my “competitions” follower count. My social media grew from posting mainly personality posts and letting people know I’m open to collab and network just like them. My niche has always been showing my true self, behind the scenes, and live videos with clients. For anyone trying to find their way through the jungle we all love and know and social networking, I would say be authentic and organized. Have a plan, follow it and if you happen to want to randomly change things that’s ok too!! Being yourself will always be key because theirs someone looking for what you have to offer!
