We recently connected with Nicole Difinizio and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
From a very young age, I knew I wanted to pursue an artistic & creative path in life. I had a passion for music, I sang and played piano throughout my childhood. I enjoyed sharing my talents and creativity with those around me. I performed for family, in school and in recitals. Using my talents and creativity has always fulfilled me.
As time when on, that artistic nature has led me to pursue many of my passions, including an online clothing boutique, creating and selling candles, a food blog and now all of those things are sort of combined into my lifestyle content creation and influencing. Social media allows me to be creative, and share many of my passions and interests with a large amount of people.
Nicole , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born and raised in New York City, in 2020 I lived in New Jersey briefly and then moved to Orlando in early 2021 with my Fiance Danny and my cat Franny. Since moving to Florida I have been able to focus and pursue content creation and influencing more due to the vast amount of activities and year round warm weather. I got into the social media world due to my overall artistic/creative interests and its a way to utilize all of those interests into one channel.
Currently, social media allows me to be creative, share my artistic side and not have to stick to one interest. I am able to be myself and share a wide array of my interests and passions.
I would want potential fans to know that I am a relatable and realistic person that shows positive content to inspire those around me. I only work with brands that I truly use the products and trust them. I try to share products and activities in my daily life that are attainable to most people and not out of reach for most as some influencers on social media tend to be. I also think that sets me apart from a lot of influencers out there, most tend to post things that most average day to day people cannot relate to or are interested in. I am most proud of that as well, that I stay true to myself and am as authentic as I can be, I have not let anything change me or try to be something I am not.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think some people that aren’t involved with the social media world or creative environment tend to believe that all content creators & influencers do not have real jobs and or its an easy lifestyle. Think about in your daily life how much content you probably consume from regular people/creators just like me. Whether is scrolling through instagram, TikTok, facebook or youtube. You probably spend hours a day looking at pictures or watching videos of creators and may not take into consideration the time and effort it took them to create what you are looking at or watching.
That picture that you liked, it may have taken a hundred shots to get the right one. That 5 minute video you are watching, it probably took hours to film and edit. We have deadlines we have to keep with the brands we work with, contracts to sign and emails to respond to just as anyone else. There is a lot of planning, editing and communication that goes into a lot of what you see on social media.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Well first off advice is that it takes a very long time to build an organic audience and following especially on instagram where I do most of my posting. I built a following by mainly interacting and supporting other creators similar to myself and continue to build and support those relationships. Its good to stick to a specific niche or aesthetic to deliver quality and consistent content. I try to be as realistic as possible and share my everyday life with my following, there are plenty of fake and unrealistic people on social media, we have all seen them and people these days are definitely looking for more relatable content and comparisons in their lives. So another advice would just to be true and honest with yourself, don’t try to be something you are not. Consistency is key on social media, if you go too long without posting or don’t engage with your following for long periods of time you lose momentum.
